Eaton County, Michigan
Once again the Sunfield Historical Society will host the 5th Annual Free
Genealogy Seminar on Saturday, March 29th at the Sunfield District Library
located at 112 Main Street, Sunfield, MI. (Sunfield is located in the
northwest corner of Eaton County)
This year we will be RESEARCHING GENEALOGY IN OUR PAJAMAS. When our Michigan
economy took a dip last year, the Michigan State Library discontinued
Ancestry.com at our local libraries October 1st, but. did you know that if
you are a Michigan resident, you can access Heritage Quest from your home
computer FREE? Have you wanted to take that research trip but with the price
of gas keeps going higher and higher each week, it makes traveling almost
impossible? Come join us and learn about all of the new free sites to
research on the internet, either from your home computer or at your local
library. You will be amazed at what you are able to locate without leaving
the comforts of your home.
We will also be joined by Jeffrey Davis from Greater Lansing Monuments, Inc.
He will discuss the processes that are required in the crafting of their
cemetery memorials. They design from the simple to complex carvings as well
as hand etched scenes and computer-run portraits. Jeffrey will also instruct
the group on how to safely clean, maintain and repair a loved ones cemetery
monument.
Come and learn a new skill on how to locate graves left unmarked for
decades, this art is known as "Grave Dowsing".
