Subject: [MIGEN] Cookes from Ireland, Ontario, Michigan
I have checked this site
http://www.mdch.state.mi.us/PHA/OSR/gendis/INDEX.HTM for death record but
only goes to 1870's.
Does anyone know if there is a site for deaths in Michigan (preferably
Chippewa County - but the one site I found did not have much) or do I have
to write to county clerks office. Would I have to write county or capital?
I am looking for death of William Cook(e) who I think died on Neebish Island
prob late 1800's or year 1900
and his wife Alice (Morton) Cook who supposedly died when she was 85 - she
was born 1811 - so prob died around 1896 or so. They lived with son George
on Neebish Island and are said to be buried there.
Any ideas? They lived in Canada probably until 1890 at least (as that
is when son George moved to Michigan) so was just wondering how deaths were
handled in those days between the two borders? Where would it be registered?
Thanks for any input.
Regards,
Doris(Richmond, B.C. Canada)
