The next meeting of the French-Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan
will be held Saturday, *April 18, 2009* from *11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m*. at
the Mount Clemens Public Library, 150 Cass Avenue, Mount Clemens, Michigan.
Roberta Estes, owner of DNA Explain, a private DNA-analysis company, will
give
two presentations:
*DNA and Genealogy Introduction* – Learn how DNA can be used for
genealogical
research. You will learn how DNA works for both males and females. We’ll
make
science understandable, and by the end of this lecture, you’ll be putting
together your
own genealogical DNA test plan. Bring your pedigree chart along for quick
reference.
*Getting in Touch with your Feminine Side* – Confused about mitochondrial
DNA
and want to learn more? This is the session for you. We explain how
mitochondrial
DNA works, give examples of successes and dispel the myth that mtDNA isn’t
very
useful. Don’t shortchange your genealogy by ignoring or underutilizing this
important tool.
We will break for lunch between lectures. *You are responsible for your own
lunch*.
Space is available for brown-baggers to eat at the library, or you may
choose to dine at
one of several local restaurants. Length of time for lunch will be
determined on the date
of the lecture.
French-Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan meetings are open to the
public.
