Marjorie, the parents listed at that entry are Wm & Mary Jarvis...not the
names you're looking for, unfortunately. The name does appear to be Thomas.
If you look at the image just below, and to the right where the next set of
parents are listed, the father's name is Theodore. The writer has an odd
way of making his capital Ts. Note the little curlicue over the T. I would
guess the sex was written down incorrectly. I'll enclose a shorter link for
you to access the Family History Library (FHL) pilot program. When you get
to their page, click on 'Browse our record collections'; then click on USA
on the map; then scroll down to Michigan Births. Just type in the surname
'Jarvis' and the year 1870 to 1870 and Michigan USA. There are only a few
for that year.

I've used this site a lot lately while transcribing the 1865 off-year census
for Troy NY. for Pat Connors. It's amazing what digitizing can do for these
old records. FHL is constantly adding to this collection, so it's a good
thing to save the site and check back periodically.

Subject: Re: [MIGEN] Can anyone help deciphering a name?
Well, I learn something new everyday!! Thank you so very much. I didn't
think of doing this.
I appreciate your attempt to figure this out. I'm hoping that this is the
birth registration for 'Clarisa Armintha Jarvis' whose parents should be
Affa and William Jarvis.
Can anyone see that name in there? Clarisa perhaps???
Thank you
Marjorie
