I first letter does look as though a name was started and then changed to this end result.
If it is Clarisa it ends a four-year puzzle for me.
Well, I don't feel so bad. I'm not the only one stumped on this!!!
Thanks for your input. One day I'll solve this!!!

Welllll, I dunno! If you look at the name above it, that seems to be Charles, so the C
in Charles doesn't look like the C in the other first name.
Just to muddy the waters, I have been working on a family of mine, and in one birth
record, the child was called Allie. Later, in censuses, she
was variously referred to as Alta Mable, Alta M. A. Mable, and just Mable. In her later
life, she went by Mable A. She didn't like Alta. But her birth
record was Allie, and when I put that into the genealogy, I had a small uproar from her
branch, wanting to know where the heck I found that !
After I sent them a copy of the birth record, they calmed down, and only slightly fumed
that she had always gone by Mable A. and so they wanted
that in the records. So, I have put Mable Alta (Allie) as her name in the records, with
explanations about the variations in the notes.
My daughter is really good at deciphering names, having helped me do many, many census
entries transcriptions, and she got nothing! Not even
after your name suggestion!

Well, I learn something new everyday!! Thank you so very much. I didn't think of
doing this.
I appreciate your attempt to figure this out. I'm hoping that this is the birth
registration for 'Clarisa Armintha Jarvis' whose parents should be Affa and
William Jarvis.
Can anyone see that name in there? Clarisa perhaps???
Thank you,
Marjorie
