You might try the 1870 and 1880 census images of St. Clair, MI using
ancestry.com. Neither census is indexed so you will have to go through
them painstakingly sheet by sheet. If you find them in either census
their children should be listed. If you just search on their names,
nothing will come up since these censuses are not yet indexed, however,
they are probably there.
Also, I found on line (
www.familysearch.com) a William Murry Brown who
married an Olive Adelade Jones on 5/17/1885 in Ogemaw, Michigan. Last,
on family search, I found one child of Peter Jones and Lydia Austin,
named Eliza. She was born on 12/13/1877 in Tuscola, Michigan.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Bruce,
Hi I was looking back on some email information that I save for later use. I
wanted to ask you about the Eliza that you said you found as a daughter of
Lydia and Peter JONES. In the 1880 Census of Elmwood, Tuscola Michigan the
daughters named are Adda, Emma, Liza E. JONES.. I was just wondering where
you found that information? Is it possible that Liza middle name is
Elizabeth? Because I don't see that name on the Census List.
Also strange is that it seems like the right Lydia and Peter JONES.. But the
only names I can say for sure are from some old pictures with the daughter
names of Hattie, Emma who never married and died an old maid, and Flora Bell
JONES. The sons names are Lafayette married to a Frances C. and a William
JONES. However in the 1880 Census I mentioned above, these names are on
there, daughters are: Adda, Emma, Liza E. and Sons are: Eli, Lafayette,
Birdie, William T., Joseph L. JONES. I have learnt that the census takers did
not always spell to good and people did go by nickname or middle names. So
this one is a hard family to put together since the main characters married
so many times due to deaths.
In the 1900 Census of Mills, Ogemaw Michigan Lydia is spelled Liddie with the
last name CHAPEL, which is who she married after JONES died. She is listed as
Widowed and living with her son Lafayette JONES and his family and in this
household is her other son William.
So you see Bruce the names seem to fit but getting them inline is tough.
Lydia also married a William BROWN sometime after this time frame as it was
written on the back of a photo. Lydia reported as having 11 children in the
1900 Census with 8 living. So 2 must have died before her. She was born in
Aug. 1847.
God Bless
Pam
