The Genealogical Society of Isabella County, Michigan is proud to announce
"Family History Detectives Day" on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Veteran's
Memorial Library, 301 South University, Mount Pleasant, from 11am-4pm. This
is a free event. You do not have to have ancestors in Isabella County to
participate in this event; anyone with an interest in family history is
encouraged to attend. This is the perfect opportunity to learn how to get
started tracing your family tree. If you love unraveling mysteries, enjoy
history, and love your family, exploring genealogy is a wonderful hobby.
It's a great way to celebrate family, history, and life.
The day will include many exhibitors and speakers including the Mount
Pleasant Family History Center, local historian and author Jack Westbrook,
author of "Michigan Genealogy" Carol McGinnis, the Daughters of the American
Revolution, the Hoyt Public Library, and others. You can help us solve some
presidential mysteries and win door prizes, too.
The Genealogical Society of Isabella County was founded in 1995 and holds
non-profit status. Family History Detective's Day furthers the society's
objective of encouraging and assisting in the study of family history while
also promoting the exchange of knowledge. Regular meetings of the Society
are held the second Thursday of each month from March through December at
Veterans Memorial Library from 7-9pm. Visitors are welcomed. Anyone
interested in genealogy, history, or biography is invited to join the
society. Memberships will be available at Family History Detectives Day.
