If a person remarries in Michigan, after being widowed in Illinois, does she have to state
anywhere when/where she was married previously and when/where widowed. I know my mother
remarried 3 months after my father died in 1968, and I know where she remarried (Allegan,
Michigan). She stated that she had only been married once, but she was married and
divorced before she married my dad, and when he died she married a 3rd time.
I do not know when/where she married my father in early 1930's. But I know she had
been married in 1927 and divorced in 1932 in Indiana. When I contacted Lansing Michigan,
they said she (Lucille Mary Jane Perry, the former Lucille Joyce, and Willson Dorr
Bradley) were not married in 1932, 1933, or 1935. Now, why would they have skipped 1934?
And does Lansing have all the marriage records for the state? Or do I have to check each
county as I do in Illinois? Appreciate any help, this is my brickwall !
