Subject: [MIGEN] HELWIG in Maybee, MI.
Can someone please tell me what county Maybee, MI. is in?
I am trying to locate the desendants of my Great Uncle, Friedrich (Fred)
Wilhelm HELWIG.
He was born in New Breman, Co. Auglaize, Ohio on 26, May 1873. He died
in Maybee, MI. At the age of 55 yrs., on 17, July 1929. He was married
to Leora( not sure of her surnname before she married Fred).
His parents were; Adam HELWIG and Anna L. SCHROEDER, both of New Breman,
Ohio.
In the New Breman Sun Newspaper, the obit states the following.
July 18, 1929
FRED HELWIG 55, DIES AT MAYBEE,MICHIGAN
Funeral arrangements being made for former New Breman Resident.
Relatves in New Breman yesterday afternoon received the announcement of
the death of Fred HELWIG, 55 at Maybee, Michigan. No other details were
contained in the message received here, although it is known that he
recently underwent surgery.
Mr. HELWIG at one time lived in New Breman and was known by many of the
older residents here. Besides the widow, Mrs. Leora HELWIG, he leaves a
son, Carl Bailey HELWIG and a grandson. He is also survived by his
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Adam HELWIG of Lima, a brother Will HELWIG and a
daughter, Mrs. Ed (Lydia) SCHOUP of Orlando, Fl.
Arrangements for the funeral have as yet not been completed.
My father is Willam Fredrick WILLS. He remembers staying at the house in
Maybee during the summer and he and his aunt would take his uncle lunch
at the railrad tracks where Fred would stop and pick his lunch up from
them. my father has foun memories of this as a little boy. My father's
mother was Lydia May HELWIG and her father was Fred's brother Will. My
father ws born, 25, October 1923 in Detroit, MI.So would have been about
no more than 6 yrs. old when uncle Fred died. Dads first name was after
his grandfather Will and his middle name Frederick was after Fred's.
I am new to the list and sure do hope someone can help with the name of
the county for Maybee and maybe a lookup in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 MI.
census . Or if there s a Maybee city directory ,
Kind regards,
Shar/ USA
