I am a 17 year old Boy Scout who is trying to do an Eagle Scout Project.
The project I choose is called the TOMBSTONE PROJECT. This is a nationwide
attempt to place every cemetery in the United States on a Web site so that
anyone who would like to search out their kindred dead may do so free of
charge.
So I chose Roselawn Cemetery as that is where my Great Grandpa is buried,
whom I was named for. A lot of people are helping me to get this project set
up, but I was wondering if you would help me too. I need to get the
information out to the public, to anyone who would like to help.
This project will take place on Saturday the 3rd of August at 9am to 4pm.
But we cannot allow children into the cemetery as we want to respect the
dead and their families. There are about 16,000 people buried at Roselawn
and we will need a lot of people to help.
The people at the public libraries are helping to put the word out,
especially the people at Hoyt Library. A lot of local businesses are
donating everything from food and drink to writing supplies and their time.
The information taken from the cemetery will then be typed into a database
using the computers at the new Family History Center at the LDS church
located at 1415 Center Ave. starting on Thursday the 8th of August.
If there is anyway that you could help me to get the word out, I would
really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot!
Sincerely,
John Sheets
