At the library of Michigan - they have "returns" for the years 1867-1897.
The index lists the name of the dec'd person and the county & page for the
"return". The return is the listing that shows the name, date of death,
date recorded, county of death, SOMETIMES parents names, and cause of
death. I think this return was the recorded version BEFORE death
certificates? They can be very helpful at times.

Hi Steve and Linda,
That's the first time I saw "Returns of Deaths' before. My suggestion is
to call the Wayne
County Clerk's office and ask them to clarify those terms.
Apparantly, it
must be something they
know about. Good luck in your search!!

Also,
The death certificates might be available through Lansing.
