This came to me from cousin, still trying to connect and find family of my Great Great
Grandmother Harriet Fisher...
Okay Barb, Here's the 1840 census info on a Pardon T. Fisher in Rives,
Jackson Co. MI:
Males 5-10 = 1 (Jerome)
10-15 = 1 (William?)
15-20 = 1 (George L.?)
40-50 = 1 (Pardon)
Females
Under 5 = 2 (Sarah and Elizabeth)
10-15 = 1 (Harriett????)
30-40 = 1 (Lovina)
This looks like a match!!!!!! But, is it Harriet's family? In 1850
this Pardon Fisher had the following children:
Jerome 18 b. NY
Sarah 15 b. OH
Elizabeth 11 b. MI
Pardon Jr. 6 b. MI
I went back and checked the marriage info on Harriet. It says she was
21 when she married and she married in 1846. That puts her at about 15
in 1840. Since they didn't marry until December, when the census was
taken, she could have been 15. If this is her family, I still don't see
any of the names passing down. Also, need to find a will for Pardon
Fisher. This is not the Pardon Fisher that moves to Buchanan Co. though
so they probably died in Jackson Co. MI after 1860. I'm checking a few
more Fisher names in Henrietta Twp., Jackson Co. MI in 1850. Hmmmmm,
there is a William Fisher, 23, b. NY about a page away from Sylvanus
Bryant living with a Maria Burg family. Maria is 27, b. NY. The Geroge
L. Fisher in Henrietta Twp., Jackson Co. MI in 1850 is 28, b. NY. His
family is Caroline, 22, b. NY, Althea 4., b. MI, Isora 3, b. MI and
Lewis 1, b. MI IF you go back to the 1840 census, William fits the male
10-15 and George fits the male 15-20. Sylvannus is on page 771, William
Fisher is on pg. 772 and George L. Fisher is on pg. 773. Now, just to
prove it all!!!!!
