Actually there's an "area" in SW Michigan (St. Joseph Co., I believe)called
Purgatory. It's located north of US12, east of M40 and south of M60.
At one time Al Capone owned property there, but there was never an actual
town. Wood Lake (in the middle of this state-owned land) is run and
operated by the Boy Scouts of America (camp). Purgatory was also the home
of Joe Lewis (the prize fighter) at one time. The home still stands.

Found two in my place finder - neither in Michigan. May have been
a
very
old town in Michigan that no longer exists. These are the only two
known
of
now.
Purgatory, Kennebec, Maine
Purgatory, Newport, Rhode Island

Hi,
Has anyone heard of Purgatory, MI? If so, where is it?
Thanks,
