Hi there Michigan listers! I had to write, as I've been doing some more
searching for my "Martin's", and I did pull up an on-line census, which I
believe is them. I found them in the township of "Houghton" in Michigan's
1870 census. The ages, and names were about right. I have them listed as the
following, and hopefully one you Martin's will recognize one of the names on
the list:
Philip Martin, Sr. - Age 38 (Copper Miner)Born in England
Emma Martin- Age: 31 (or 37-?) (Keeping House)Born in England
Philip Martin, Jr.: Age 18 (Copper Miner)Born in England
*Name I can't read (Ben?): Age 14 (In School) born England
James:(Jas N.) Age 12 (In School) born England
Mary: Age 10 (In School)-born in England
Elizabeth Age 9 (school)-Born in England
Jane: age 1 (Born in Michigan)
George: age 6 months (born in Michigan)
**Folks- I'm fairly sure the Philip Martin, Sr. might be my great
grandfather, who married Ellen Andreus. They had Jesse Martin, and Pearl
Ellen Martin.
Jesse Martin Married Lena Dahl (d. of Iver Dahl-who worked at AV Mann & Co-
in Muskegon, immigrated from Denmark)....Any clues, or if you think I have
the wrong family.....please, do contact me, either on or off the list.
Thanks!
