Hi Joan -
Well, I'm back and here's what I found: David and Mabel were in Detroit
until 1939 when I found them at the address you had in Highland Park. Prior
to that in 1934, 1936, 1937 and 1938 they lived at 2884 East Grand Blvd. in
Detroit. In 1934, Florence was listed living with them and working as a
switchboard operator then, interestingly in 1936, she was still living at
the same address and had her own company, Air Reduction Sales Co. - whatever
that might be. Andrea was never listed alone so she probably married young
and Florence wasn't listed after 1936 but in 1938 an F.L. Corbin was listed
at 83 Edmund Pl. #309, that year only then not after that. None were listed
in 1940.
So then I went to the Detroit death index which unfortunately does not
include Highland Park which is a city within the City of Detroit.
Unfortunately, I had to leave sooner than I would have liked to for a couple
of reasons; I'm going out for dinner tonight and have to do some Major Hair
Repair but even more than that, I had cataract surgery during the summer and
have not gotten my new glasses. I lost a lens from the old glasses and have
been using off-the-rack glasses which don't quite get it so hopefully
tomorrow I can get that prescription filled and go back down there in a
couple of weeks when I can spend more time AND see as well!
Do you have any death dates for the people you're looking for? Any married
names for "the girls"? There is also a state death index which the
librarian couldn't find which would definitely help and would cross
city/county lines. However, scrolling through those takes time but if you
don't have a date, at least I could get one for Mabel and/or David which
would give the daughters' married names, etc. So you answer one question
and that opens up more questions.
I'll hang onto the info I have and see what else I can find out.
Grace

I'm glad you emailed - Tomorrow is the day - I was originally going to go
down 10/4 and couldn't get the day off. I too was going to go through my
emails because I told three people I'd do look-ups for them so this saves
me
the trouble for at least one - you. I'll let you know either tomorrow
afternoon of Wednesday morning what I find.
