Thankyou. I have had a quick look and I shall certainly learn a lot from
that site.

Subject: [MIGEN] MUSSELWHITE sisters
Hello Listers,
I am new to this list and, in fact, I am new to research in the USA and
have
no idea of what is available. So I am asking for some help please.
I have found that two young sisters left England and travelled to USA
arriving on 6th June 1914. Then I found the Border Crossing Manifests
which
showed both girls were travelling, and gained permission to travel to
Detroit, Michigan.
The older sister married and stayed in Detroit, was widowed and married
for
a second time but the younger sister, my grandmother, returned to England
as
she married there in September 1915. The fares were paid for by an Uncle.
It is a total surprise to me that she made this journey as mention has
never
been made of it.
The sisters were Edna MUSSELWHITE (aged 18) and Eliza MUSSELWHITE (aged
16).
I have found that Edna married a James SMITH and then a Mr. SUMMERFIELD.
She died in 1966 and was cremated at Woodmere.
Now to the help I need. My questions are - - - -
1. is there any way I can find out details of Edna's life in Michigan,
birth of children etc and the marriage details with Mr Summerfield.
2. is there any way I can find details of Eliza's time in Michigan? For
what reason did she travel to USA for such a short period of time and when
and how did she return to England? If the reason was because she had a
baby
there (a possibility) is there any way that can be tracked?
I live in Australia and as I said at the opening of this post I have no
idea
whatsoever of how I can gain information from Michigan and even of what is
available. I really would be most grateful for any help, ideas,
suggestions
or contacts.
Thankyou so much, in advance,
Regards,
Lynn
