Hi Myra. Thanks for your input. I didn't intend to have the entire
Directory copied...just the pages where the requested Surnames were listed.
The LDS suggestion is a good one, but with the 1940 census due to come out
in 2012, they might not consider it worthwhile. I can contact them, though.
As far as Ancestry goes, I emailed them a few months ago, asking why the
1939 Directory isn't complete (it only goes up to G or H) and they said
'eventually' they'll get it done. There again, the release of the 1940
census may be playing into their decision to put this particular Directory
on the back burner.

I believe the cost of copying 2200 pages plus, with the office store
handling the book themselves, will be prohibitive. >>>>
<<<<You could contact a local LDS family history center to see if they would
like to contact their people to see if they want to make a copy for their
records and if they would be willing to put in on line for the public. Even
having it in
ancestry.com would be a great help for many who have
subscriptions.
Or find a Wayne county genealogical society who might be willing to make a
copy for you IF they can also sell the other copies they might make.
