Hi Joan,
Boy I wish I still went down there, I would look for you, but sadly I do not
find it safe any longer and being handicapped it is very difficult for me to
go that far. The City of Detroit has totally hacked the funds for the
library to use for other purposes that I am not sure are equal to the
benefits that the library can bring to the citizens of the city.
Wish I knew where to go from here but I just am not sure. How about Wayne
State's Library? I helped one researcher and they said they got help from
them.

May I suggest.......from the street address in the 1930 census, start
looking through city directories ( or rural directories if that pertains)
and follow your Mr. Corbin that way, if possible. Otherwise, biographies in
newer history books, tax records, church records, buriel records with
cemetery records. If he owned his house in 1930, follow up on land records,
deeds, and property abstracts.
Good luck,
Mary B.

Hello,
I found some further info you might like to see. I saw the marriage record
for them for 28 Jun 1855 in Geauga Co. but she is listed with her parents
(under her maiden name) and George in two separate counties. Is it possible
George and Wealthy died about the same time or even the same year?

Hello,
There was no official Census between 1860 and 1870. Where did your Tuttles
move from? Do you have their ages in 1860?

Hi Debbie,
Having read this e-mail I thought I'd try my "luck" with your generous offer
to Joann. Let me know if I've over-stepped the boundaries - LOL
I've been searching for my great-uncle, David Wilber/Webber Corbin born in
St-Catharines, Ont. 1883 - came to Detroit abt. 1902 became an embalmer
working for a Mr. Gass - marr. Mabel W.? abt. 1910 had 2 daughters,
Florence & Andrea - last known address was on 12561 3rd Ave., Apt. 118,
Highland Part, Detroit in 1930 Census. Then he "disappeared". I've checked
with Detroit Lib. for obits & City of Detroit Vit. Rec, &State of Michigan
Vit. Rec. - nothing. I've entertained the idea that he & wife may have
moved in with or away with either daughter, b-u-t........ Would you have
ANY idea where I could go next for research??? City Directories? Are they
on-line? I'm really "brick-walled". Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks. Joan in NYS
Hi Debbie,
Since ALL of his family had moved to NYS or Minnesota and ALL other
relatives were deceased it didn't appear that he would have gone back to
Ontario. Thanks anyway - Joan

Have you considered the possibility that he may have returned to Canada and
taken his family with him? Just a suggestion, for what it may or may not be
worth.

Have you considered he may have went back to Ontario for some reason? Have
you traced his children to see where they ended up?
Have you checked SLC library to see if Detroit City Directories or telephone
books are microfilmed? Just a thought.

My brick wall is with the sister of my great grandmother. I have a picture
of all of them together in 1899 and than no more information. She lived
somewhere in Michigan and cannot locate any information. One sister lived in Barry
County which I have really checked and surrounding counties. The other
lived in St. Clair. She was born about 1858 in New York.
Name Abby or Hannah - but the correct name is Abigale Rolfe.
Last I knew the list Admin is Jan Cortez and I guess she is just ignoring
the whole thing....hmmmmmm...
