Sunfield Historical Society News
The Sunfield Historical Society is proud to announce the release of the first of a series of books being published on the memories of our local citizens.
Myrtie's Memories
Who was Myrtie Welch, also know as "Grandma" by local kids who visited her Sunfield hardware store on Main Street store in her later years? She was born Myrtie Candace Lovell, on a farm near Woodland, in 1890. By the time of her passing in 1989, almost a hundred years had passed and the world had turned upside down. The Sunfield Historical Society is happy to allow readers to bask in Myrtie's Memories, back to the family's Ohio beginning, then to Lansing, to rural stops in this area, to the farm where she was born, and evolves both people and places to her conclusion in 1984, which is not truly a conclusion. That's because hers is the story of one of Sunfield's long-standing families and businesses, and they remain a local institution to this day.
This book is now available at the Sunfield Library and Welch Hardware for the price of $12.00. If you wish to have a copy sent to you please send your name and address, and $12.00 plus $3.00 postage to: Sunfield Historical Society, P. O. Box 251, Sunfield, MI 48890
