Looking for Thomas Sager, possibly Thomas J. Sager and his
wife, Lois and or Lois Isadore Sager. The only child I know of was
Bessie L. Sager.
Thomas Sager was born in Canada, possibly both his parents also.
Birth would have been around 1844.
Lois or Lois Isadore was born in New York, parents also. Birth would
have been around 1854.
Bessie L. Sager was born between 1892 and 1894 and was born
in Michigan.
It is thought that Thomas and Lois had 7 living children and that
Thomas J. and Isadore Sager had 5 living children.
Census are confusing and it is possible that these are two different
families.
Can anyone help?

Hello Listmembers,
Evidently, occasionally our anti-spam programs are also not allowing
items to be sent to our lists as well as keeping our lists from us. I
sent this to 4 of our Michigan lists over a week ago (twice) and have
still not seen it on any of them. If you have received this more than
once, I apologize.
The following is a newspaper article from Heritage Newspapers/The
News-Herald from 25 June 2003 (Wayne County, MI). The article is

Genealogical Society's project includes work at Holy Cross Cemetery

The News-Herald
Article:
A new project is under way for the Downriver Genealogical Society.
The group, whose mission is to find family history by transcribing
gravestones, has begun work at Holy Cross Cemetery in Detroit.
"It isn't just for us, but for anyone with ties to Michigan," society
member Elaine Raymo said.
The group has transcribed many cemeteries before, but this project was a
bit different because the Archdiocese of Detroit owns the church and had
to give special permission before digging could begin, society President
Sherry Huntington said.
The project began in the fall of 2000, with Mary Ann Bolak leading it.
So far, the group has transcribed 10,000 stones at Holy Cross Cemetery,
covering about one-fifth of the grounds.
During winter, Raymo and Sandi Sitkowski, chairwomen of the project,
concentrate on compiling all of the history and information found,
including keeping accurate records of plot pieces and names so that
family members can locate deceased relatives.
Society members also utilize the Family History Library in Salt Lake
City.
During the summer, members of the society dig and transcribe the
stones. All members of the group, who come from all over the United
States, are volunteers.
They currently are working on section B, the oldest of the cemetery's 14
areas.
To date, the oldest stone found is for an 1849 burial. And 1854 stone
for Josephine Levinway, which translated is "Livernois," also has been
found.
The site was established in 1838, so it is possible that Holy Cross
contains earlier stones, group members said. However, in the early
1900s, a fire destroyed chapel records.
"If the stones aren't brought to light, then they will be lost," Raymo
said.
Besides transcribing cemeteries all over Downriver, members of the group
also have held seminars and published books about their findings. The
society has a book store in the basement of the Library Lincoln Park
Historical Museum.
The nonprofit organization is funded by the money from the books it
publishes and by annual donations of $10 each from members.
"People should not be forgotten," Huntington said. "If it wasn't for
them, we would not be here."

Dear Friends,
It is my sad duty to notify you of the passing of Janice A. Beebe on the
27th of March. Jan was a dear friend to all researchers, both here in
Michigan and across the country.
She was a founding member of the Livingston County Genealogical Society, and
very active in the Detroit Genealogical Society and the Mayflower Society of
Michigan.
I have placed her entire obituary and information about the memorial service
and what her husband John asked me to say about memorials. www.LivGenMI.com
I know that he & his family would appreciate prayers at this time. Her short
illness and death came as a great shock to all.
I know that she is already checking out all of those people that she helped
find in all of the projects that she worked on when family members were
missing both here in the county and across the state. <g>
Please feel free to pass on this message to anyone you feel that would
appreciate notice of this sad occurrence.

Hi all -
Thank you to everyone who responded to my request re finding my adopted cousin. I probably didn't make myself too clear in my first post. We found out about this baby (Thomas Fox or Reynolds) about 10 years ago through my mother. But, she didn't know much either. She said my aunt disappeared for 2-3 months, had a baby and after a week or two gave it up for adoption and he was named Thomas (this was around 1938 or 1939). Last name would be Fox if she wasn't married or would be Reynolds if she was. Some think she may have given birth in Chicago and went through The Cradle to adopt him out. She was living in MI at the time, so she may have given birth there - I believe she had finished her first year of college. Afterward, she lived in Detroit. When a family member recently asked her about the baby, she denied it. But, according to my cousin's birth certificate (1942), my aunt had had one previous pregnancy/delivery.
My cousins and I went to the Library of Michigan and went through the records there looking for the birth - no luck. We also looked for a marriage and divorce record for Ruth Fox and William Reynolds - no luck again. We know where she has lived and who she has been married to since 1940 and went through all of her papers after she died. All of our relatives that would know anything have passed away so we're going on what my mother told us. I am doing this to help my cousins possibly find their brother and we would appreciate all the help we can get.
Thank you, Priscilla

Hi -
I'm looking for my cousin who was adopted shortly after birth but don't know exactly
how to go about it. Here is the information I have:
The parents were: William Reynolds and Ruth Fox (supposedly married, but we have
no proof) and he was named Thomas. We are led to believe he was Thomas Fox. He
was born somewhere around 1938 either in MI, which is where Ruth lived, or in IL.
My aunt, Ruth Fox, recently died so I thought I'd pursue this. Any suggestions?
Priscilla

Hi Everyone...
I have added a complete "The Middleville Sun" newspaper in PDF format to my web page for all to see. From the main page of the web site click on the "tools" link at the bottom. This will take you to the page with the PDF. Don't forget that this newspaper covered a much larger area than just Middleville and Barry County. Check out the column headings like "Bowne Budget", "Parmalee Pickins", etc...
I had hoped to be scanning all of them by now but am having some difficulty. Also listed on that page is the latest news on the project.

Greetings from Canada.
I hope some kind person can do some census lookups on the Clement LAXTON family.
They are found in the 1880 census at Vevay Ingham Michigan.
wife is Susanna
children are Alice Lillian Anna Jesse and Arthur all born in Michigan
The parents were born in England.
Susanna's maiden name was Wood.
There may have been a son William also.
I believe Clement's parents to be Robert Laxton and Alice Little who were married in
Eye Parish in Northants England.
Look forward to any help.
Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

Michigan didn't begin to officially keep birth & death records until 1867.
You could try the county, occasionally they have a few scattered records
here and there. It depends on the county.
