Could not find them later but did earlier - 1860, 1870, 1880. The father's
name was not Lewie but LEVY. Can send more if you are interested.

Hello Jud,
According to the 1880 census, this should be part of the family.
I don't see George anywhere.

Can anyone tell me the map of where the outages are in MI? Are they just in Detroit, or is the whole lower peninsula knocked out?
I'm headed to Port Huron tonight and need to know whether to cancel my reservations and stay in Chicago.
I'm not concerned with overall electricity - I'm mostly concerned with whether I would be able to get gas for my car.
Concetta
Hi Concetta - I think your best bet would be to look at www.freep.com - that
is the site for the Detroit Free Press and you'll see the latest info on
blackout and area involved. But I think power is being restored gradually
to all areas.

Dear All,
I have been researching the Speare family tree for the past few years
now and have made contact with a large number of the current day
Speare's in the UK, Canada, Australia & US and have found that a most of
them have links to the Devon area.
This October I am organising an International gathering of the Speare
family in St Charles, Illinois near Chicago and am trying to fill in a
few gaps on the family tree before the event.
If you know of any Speare family members on your family tree I would
love to hear from you.
Best wishes
Thomas

On this site for the Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division,
you will find some interesting pictures taken in various Michigan counties;
you might even see a picture of a family member.
Cheers!

THE GENEALOGY DEPARTMENT IN FORT WAYNE REALLY IS OPEN!
In case you haven't heard, or in case you think that most of our materials are not going to available until much later - We're Open! And we invite you to visit us! The Allen County Public Library Genealogy Department is open with all of our book and microtext materials available for researchers. Not only are all our materials available, our books are now on browsing shelves. Our transition facility at 20 East Berry Street has been rated "TOPS" by the researchers who have been here.
The end of the summer is near. The pool will be closing, the kids will be going back to school, and you'll have more time on your hands. A perfect opportunity to visit Fort Wayne, Indiana and research in this large and growing collection.
SOME RUMORS YOU MAY HAVE HEARD:
I HEARD THE LIBRARY WAS CLOSED
The entire Main Library including the Historical Genealogy Department is open! Every department moved to our interim location at 200 E. Berry St. while the old library is being expanded and renovated. We will be at this location for approximately 3 years.
I HEARD THE GENEALOGY COLLECTION IS NOT AVAILABLE
The entire genealogy collection, materials from across the United States, Canada, Great Britain and other locales, is available and ready for your perusal. In fact, one of the most exciting things is that the collection is now a browsing collection. This means you can walk the stacks and stacks of genealogical research materials, finding things you never thought you would find.
The entire genealogy collection is available. There is NOTHING stored away -everything is accessible. All our research materials can by used here at our location. All our books, microfilm and periodicals are available.
SPECIAL RESOURCES / SPEICAL EVENTS
In addition to our deep collection, patrons can also order microfilm from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City for a small fee for use here in our library. If you live within a day's drive of Fort Wayne, this is a great benefit to you. Not only can you order microfilm resources from Salt Lake City, when combined with the collection here in Fort Wayne, the research opportunities are outstanding.
October is Family History Month. This year, we would enjoy having you come to Fort Wayne to do research and join in the special events offered by the Genealogy Department. These events include lectures on specific research resources, information about the ACPL genealogy collection, and special topics, presented by the staff of the Historical Genealogy Department.
OUR WEBSITE
Visit our website www.acpl.lib.in.us to search our library catalog to discover what we have in store for your specific research needs. At our home page, click on library catalog, enter your search term (surname + the word family, geographic location, author, title, or keyword), and find the treasures that await you here in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Scroll down to the bottom of the home page, click on "Genealogy Gateway" to get an overview of the material housed in this world-renowned collection.
We'd enjoy having you visit us!

Hello All:
I just joined the Michigan Genealogy mailing list in hopes of finding:
Russell E. ROGERS, born Maine circa 1870 [mother's name Maude] and his wife
Bessie BELL born Maine 1871. They were married in Maine about 1893-1895 and
moved to Michigan - I think Detroit, where they had a son
Don Francis ROGERS born 4 May 1897 died 1963.
I would very much like to find this family either in Maine or in Michigan
or anything anyone knows about them.
TIA
Regards -
Carol Markillie

This looks like a good match but this was not your easy search by far. I must
have mentioned before that I would rather stab my eyes out with an ice pick
than search for the name SMITH.
13 June 1900, Courtland Twp, Kent County, MI:
SMITH, Herbert A., Jul 1879, 20, MI MI PA
-- Marie, May 1878, 22, MI Can Can, married 3 years
-- Cecil H., Apr 1898, 2, MI
HH just above must be Herbert's parents:
SMITH, Albert (MI unreadable), Dec 1854, MI NY NY
-- Jennie B., Apr 1860, PA PA PA, married 25 years, mother of 2, 1
living
Ought to help some?? Let me know.

Sue, I find the following KINGs and BENNETTs in the 1892 book: "Portrait and
Biographical Record, Saginaw and Bay Counties, Michigan" March, 1892, there
is a reference to the following:
Captain Henry Bennett pg. 657
Edwin T. Bennett pg. 296
Alfred M. King pg. 923
Captain G.W. King pg. 433
William W. King pg. 438
I'm know that the Bay City Public Library, 708 Center Avenue, Bay City,
Michigan, has a copy of this book and if you write or phone (989 893-9566), they
would be able to send you a copy of the complete text. They charge 15 cents
per copy and perhaps postage.
