Hello listers!
I just found out that my grandfather's maternal oncle emigrated to Michigan with his family 1902/03.
I hope someone could make a look-up for me in the 1920 and 1930 Census to possibly locate them.
This is what I already know:
Karl Gustav Isaksson (I guess he became Carl Isaacson in the US?) b. 1861 in Övertorneå Parish in northern Sweden an this Anna Gustava (née Lindbäck b. 1848)
emigrated in 1902 to Amasa, MI. They were joined 1903 by their daughter Anna Signe, b 1890 March 11, and by then the partents had moved to Iron Mountain MI.
Lastly I've possibly found the daugther Anna Signe in the SSDI :
ANNA GEIGER 11 Mar 1890 Aug 1976 48470 (Ruth, Huron, MI) 371-68-1070 Michigan
So If this person could be included in the look-up also I'd be really grateful!!
Greetings from

Thanks to all who give info on the 1920 and 1930 census. The info for the 1920 I had already and I know he divorced from Irma Dedobbelaere But someone of the far family tell me Irma and here 2 daughters move to Michigan where 1 of the daughters married August DeMeere. But because in the 1920 index they are just 3 and 4 years I think not they are married in 1930. Years ago the address of August DeMeere was 5046 Neft (or something)
Detroit 48224
Thanks for any info

Found Karl Isaacson in 1920 but not 1930. He was in Spokane Washington. I can
send the actual page image later if you want. It shows Karl age 59, farmer,
Anna age 72, emmigrated 1902, both from Sweden:
Isaacson, Karl G
Age: 59
Year: 1920
Birthplace: Sweden
Race: White
State: Washington

Did not find the younger Anna.
You can print out a letter to the Social Security Administration on Anna
GEIGER from Rootsweb.com SSDI (cost $27). The SS application they send you
back should list her parents and place of birth.

Dear All,
I am researching the Long family from Handborough, Oxfordshire and was
wondering if any of you know of any links to this area.
I have traced back to George Long & Mary Stevens who were married 1st
April 1733 in Handborough, Oxfordshire. The family seem to have been
Farmers & Carpenters/Sawyers. A lot of the ladies in the family were
Glove Makers.
I have set up a website with more information about the long family at.
http://www.speareroots.co.uk/oxfordshire_family_roots.htm
If you think you could have links to this part of Oxfordshire I would
love to hear from you.
Best wishes

According to ancestry.com index, there are only 11 Spriet in Michigan in
1930. They are Justaaf, Lea, Valere, Joe, Godeliene, Remi, Andrew, Henry,
Gustaue, Eliza and Julius.
Do you know where in Michigan they would have been in 1930 or other
spellings of their name?

Michael J. Neill: COURSE I
Course I is not really for intended for those completely new to genealogy --we've had long-time researchers in this class. We assume you have a working knowledge of most of the records discussed in our sessions and have used most of them before. Throughout the Part I sessions, the promise and pitfall of each record type is discussed.
Sandra H. Luebking: COURSE II
Course II is recommended for anyone who has mastered basic genealogical record-keeping skills and terminology; is reasonably familiar with common 20th century U.S. local and county sources; can properly abstract and cite a simple will, deed, or census entry; and has worked a minimum of 15 hours each in a genealogical library collection, a family history library or center, and a county court-house. While the focus is hands-on research, internet discussion will be included and the top sites for advanced research will be identified.
Lloyd D. Bockstruck: EASTERN SOURCES
This course will include research sources and techniques covering the Eastern Seaboard; Arrival and Beyond the Tidewater; the New England Colonies: Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay and New Haven, Connecticut River Valley, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont; The Middle Colonies: New York, Pennsylvania, new Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland; The Virginias, The Carolinas, Ohio River Valley; and Tennessee after the Revolutionary War.
Paul Milner BRITISH ISLES RESEARCH
Encompassing the whole of Great Britain, including Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and England, this course will cover each geographic location in a detailed "tour" of their research sources. Included will be immigration from those areas to North America.

I am trying to trace the GRIMES family. They migrated to the Michigan area from Chatham in Kent about 1910. The parents were John and Sarah Grimes. John was originally from Llangwm in Pembrokeshire, Wales. I believe eight of their children went with them.
James, Harry, Nellie, Richard, George, Thomas, Hilda and Cyril.
The only clues I have are: -
1/ Nellie married and had twin daughters; I think she may have gone blind. I have photos of Nellie and the twins in their early 20’S, but it does n’t say where or when they were taken.
2/ Cyril was drowned at the” New Lido” at the age of 16, about 1916.
Any help would be appreciated.

I graduated from Leslie Public High School with a Mary Grimes in 1968. I
don't have any more info on her but Leslie is located in Ingham County,
Michigan, 49251. Hope that is a start for you.

I would suggest that you post this on the Lenawee County mailing List.
Also, there is a group of VERY dedicated researchers - The Lenawee County
Family Researchers and they are currently redoing all the cemetery books for
Lenawee County.
Their web page is at:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/coslund234795MI/lcfr/
You might also check the Lenawee County page at:
http://dianesgenealogy.com/lenaweemi/index.html
These are both very good sites and I am sure that someone there will be
able to assit you.
