Dear All
I am trying to find out more about a Cousin Patricia Christina Fura.
She would be in her 60s now. She is the daughter of Peter Fura &
Suzanne Margaret Speare. Suzanne died in an Accident in January 1937
Suzanne & Peter were married on 10 September 1934 in Hamtramck, Wayne,
Michigan, USA.
If anyone knows of any links to the Fura or Speare family I would love
to hear from them.
Regards
Thomas

I had planned to order Detroit City Directory films from my local Mormon
Family Hist Library, but as I turned in my order for a 1904 Detroit
Directory film, 1611500, I was told this film would help me only if my
ancestors had owned a business in Detroit. I was told that the Mormon
Directory films were only for businesses and were different from the
city directories. Is this correct? I thought anyone who was employed
would be listed.
Can someone clarify this for me.
Thank you very much.

Thank you, everyone for all the help you've given me!! This is certainly a very
supportive mailing list!!
My Switzer Cousin, sent me the information she had with my John Switzer. She took
the information down, a long time ago, when she wasn't sure she was connected to
this group.
Here's what she gave me:
Julia Ann (Switzer) McFarlane - obit - died age 92
Came to Laporte in Midland county in 1887 - 18 months later moved to Tittabawassee township (Saginaw county) member Freeland Methodist Church for 40 years. Mr McFarlane died in 1917. Burial LaPorte Cemetery. Taylor Funeral Home. leaves a daughter Mrs. Ida VanBuren & son Lewis. 2 sisters - Mrs. Herman Smith Flint, Michigan Mrs. Emily Crampton Laporte.
Midland County Cemeteries - Laporte Cemetery:
Switzer, John d. 19 apr 1894 age 74 years
Switzer, John Jr. (no dates)
McFarland, Robert J. 1848-1917
McFarland, Julie A. (sexton records, no dates)
McFarland, Lewis H. (sexton records, no dates)
So, LaPorte...this a township of Michigan! This opens a door, to find out if more of my Switzers
ended up here also! Would anybody have these cemetery transcripts perhaps?

Hi there,
Is there a 1890 Census program that allows you to search for last names, for all of
Michigan?
I am wondering if there is a way to search for a Canadian that moved to
Michigan in the mid-1880s. I'll just toss out this family info and see if
anyone recognizes this or has any suggestions:
John Switzer b. 1822 Lower Canada....and his wife Ann Mooney b 1823, Ireland.
A daughter Julia Ann Switzer b. 1847 Ontario, married Robert J. McFarlane in 1874.
They had two children: Lewis and Ida May McFarlane.
Robert McFarlane and Julia moved to Michigan. John and Ann moved there also, and
I heard that John Switzer died there. They are possibly in the 1890 Census there.
And then John Switzer died in Michigan.
I'm looking for these folks. I'm also looking for where John Switzer is buried. He
died between 1891-1900 Approx.
Help!
;-)

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for descendants of my Great Uncle, known as Andy, and sometimes
Anthony Steigner. Born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on 11 November 1894, his
birth name was Anton. He and his wife Kate lived in Michigan, I believe that
he worked at the Dodge Company. Andy died on 11 March 1949.
If you have any connections to the above, please contact me at

Best regards,
Nan

Would SKS look up Alice M MORRISON. Sometime after 1880 she married
Henry Warner Barden of Royalton TWP, Fulton CO, OH. She gave birth to
her children in Fulton CO., but there is no record of their marriage in
Fulton CO. Her oldest granddaughter was named Alice Mae Barden. In the
1880 census there is a Alice Mae in Detroit. If you could look at the
1890 or 1900 census, perhaps we could pin down the marriage.
Thank you.

Hi I am new to the list and am in search of my grandfather's parents ,
but don't know there names or birth date's or place of birth. My
grandfather went by Charley Walker in Vineyard twp, Lawrence CO., MO.
His parents by the 1910 census says his parents were from PA., and NY. I
would like for someone to look at the 1860 census for my grandfather
Charles Russell Walker with his family. I know it is a long shot but I
don't have anymore information on him or his family. I do have his
daughter my mother Emma Jane Walker born July 14 , 1895 , Joplin ,
Jasper CO., MO. He was buried in April 1926 in Missouri.Thank You Kindly
Shirley Carter from Riverside California.
****Still trying to put together information on my g grandmother Daisy Mae
BROWN. She was born in Michigan. She married 1st James S. McCALLUM who was
born 11 Jan 1865 in MI and died 31 Dec. 1818. I have 2 different versions of
Daisy and James, 1: is that he died and Daisy remarried 2: is that they
divorced in Hammond Indiana and Daisy remarried. Anyone having information
regarding them please email me.
****Also looking for James S. McCALLUM parents and siblings. I believe his
mothers maiden name was SHARP or SHARPE who I was told was born in Ireland. I
do not have his fathers name. If anyone can make a connection please email me.
****Now, she is Daisy M. McCALLUM who married a Nathan Oliver SMITH born
April 08, 1882 in Delaware, DELAWARE, OH, and died May 08, 1955 in
Montgomery, BALDWIN, AL. He is buried in Mobile National Cemetery, Mobile,
Alabama. Nathan 1st was married August 22, 1908 in Delaware County, OH. to a
Synthia Donaldson and had 1 son and 1 daughter who died a few days after
birth and then Synthia died 1 week later. Daisy married Nathan, maybe in MI
or possibility is Hammond, IN. Would like to find out more on Nathan's
parents and siblings. Please email me if you have a connection.
****Daisy and Nathan divorced and she married a Grant McGlaughlin I believe
in Indiana. She had at sometime moved to Indiana. So did her sister daughters
Agnes McCALLUM (SMITH- Nathan may have adopted her) and Frances McCALLUM
(SMITH - Nathan did adopt her) and Mary Ellen McCALLUM (SMITH-Nathan may have
adopted) who married a Kenneth J. HARTLERODE. Mary died in an automobile
accident and Daisy raise her son. There was also a James Murray McCALLUM
(SMITH- Nathan may have adopted) and Marguerite McCALLUM who died in infancy
in 1918 and the last of the children as far as I know. Anyone having a
connection please email me.
**** One more thing, my grandmother Frances Louise McCALLUM -SMITH married a
William Harry SKINNER. They had 1 daughter, Mary Ellen SKINNER-my mother. My
mother married a Robert Wade TURNER who is my biological father. I was born
in Hammond Indiana. I know that he lived there after the divorce for
sometime, but also live in Whitley, Gary, Hessville Indiana. I believe he
remarried but to who I do not know. I also think he may have had other
children and may have adopted some from another marriage. I have been unable
to find any information about this. He died young. If anyone can make a
connection to this one please let me known
Thank you for all of you help. It is greatly appreciated. I think sometimes
this is not said enough.
God Bless
Pam

I have been successful in penetrating, in part, a brickwall.
I have located on the 1920 Wayne County, MI, city of Detroit, census
two of my uncles. Sons of my grandfather BENJAMIN F. HARRIS b
1856 in Erie, PA. d 01NOV1940 in Detroit.
First listing was for a HARRY J. HARRIS b 1887 in IN., along with his
spouse BELLE HARRIS b Canada & two daughters.
LOUISE HARRIS b about 1915 in Canada or MI. & BERTHA HARRIS b about 1916-17.
Harry J., was always referred to as just "J" & at that time worked as a
plasterer with a contractor.
As I remember LOUISE remained in Detroit and married a gentlemen of Polish
descent, probably in the 1930s. They had several children.
I don't know her married name, but believed it began with a K.
I do not have any information on BERTHA HARRIS, but she was named after our
Aunt Bertha b in IN. 1885.
The second listing was for ALBERT HARRIS b 1882 in IN., his spouse CHARLOTTE
HARRIS b in Massachusetts, along with their son
ALBERT HARRIS, Jr..
Albert Sr., in the Auto industry at that time.
A 3rd listing was for another son RUSSELL HARRIS, b Aug 1895 in IN
d June of 1972 in Pontiac, MI..He was listed as Single on the 1920 census &
worked as a cook.
He eventually married a LAURA FREE & had one daughter & lived in Pontiac
their entire life. He worked for the truck division of either GM or Ford and
later ran the Tel-A-Tour Home (B & B) in Pontiac.
This is most of my HARRIS line. Any info on these families, please reply to
Richard Harris rh128212(a)aol.com or pubrep38(a)yahoo.com
Thank You.
