I am looking for a Classmate that I went to kindergarten with at Wiley Elementary in Utica,Michigan. I was born June 2, 1967 and she was born June 1, 1967, but maybe I am wrong on that date. I know that she had lived with her mother and younger sister who was about 2 years younger, I don't know where there father was, I think either her mother or sisters name was Kathy. they moved when after we got out of the third grade, my mom was given the information, but lost it and I have been searching for her since the summer before we would have started 4th grade. Anyone know her. If I had the money I would pay one of those company's to find her, but I don't-so I am trying this in hopes of finding her or someone that knows her. Thanks for any Help!
Kindly,

Pam - Where do you find all these great web sites? Unfortunately, neither
my Tibbits nor Clarks are on these lists. Someday I'll find them. Thanks
for trying.

Could you send a copy of the Roselawn Cemetery e-mail to me privately?
Somehow I deleted it off the server instead of downloading and would like a
copy in case I can help with the project.
Thank you,

Subject: Roselawn Cemetery
22 July, 2002
I am a 17 year old Boy Scout who is trying to do an Eagle Scout Project.
The project I choose is called the TOMBSTONE PROJECT. This is a nationwide
attempt to place every cemetery in the United States on a Web site so that
anyone who would like to search out their kindred dead may do so free of
charge.
So I chose Roselawn Cemetery as that is where my Great Grandpa is buried,
whom I was named for. A lot of people are helping me to get this project set
up, but I was wondering if you would help me too. I need to get the
information out to the public, to anyone who would like to help.
This project will take place on Saturday the 3rd of August at 9am to 4pm.
But we cannot allow children into the cemetery as we want to respect the
dead and their families. There are about 16,000 people buried at Roselawn
and we will need a lot of people to help.
The people at the public libraries are helping to put the word out,
especially the people at Hoyt Library. A lot of local businesses are
donating everything from food and drink to writing supplies and their time.
The information taken from the cemetery will then be typed into a database
using the computers at the new Family History Center at the LDS church
located at 1415 Center Ave. starting on Thursday the 8th of August.
If there is anyway that you could help me to get the word out, I would
really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot!
Sincerely,
John Sheets

Pam - You mean to tell me there's a Cass City in MI? I have been
researching the heck out of Cass County.
Where is Cass City? Do you suppose that's my problem? Well...... Any help
is appreciated!
Thanks
Virginia
Hi!
Some counties have naturalization records on file. However, I have used
the State of Michigan library in the past with success.
You will have to know the name, and, using census records, if possible,
figure out when they were naturalized. If you do not have an exact year of
naturalization, it is possible to get a "kinda sorta maybe" date if you can
figure out when they got here, and what the laws were (i.e. how long they may
have had to wait/be in the country) for that time period. before being
naturalized.....this, of course is assuming they were naturalized a.s.a.p.
Sally
Len Gilmore - Not sure if my Clarks fit your family or not. My
ggrandfather was Absalom Clark.
Supposedly born abt 1837 somewhere in PA. He is on record as having
married Alma Tibbits in Cass Co., MI in 1857. He has a brother -John,
also shown as born PA. None of this is verified as yet. I do have them
all together in IN in 1860. I haven't been able to go back any further.
Virginia
Dick Remington - The Clarks I am looking for must be in those two books
as they are used as Sources for a now disputed marriage. The people I
need are Absalom Clark, born abt 1837, and his marriage to Alma Tibbits
of 1857, Also brother John Clark. Thank you for responding.

Hi Listers
Several of my ancestors emigrated to Michigan from southwestern Ontario,
Canada following the Civil War and into the 20th Century.
Many of these ancestors were working in the lumber industry.
Is there; located in the State, a database or central location whereby such
info can be accessed?
Names of interest
McAdam, McIntosh, McLachlan, Powell, Smith
Bev Powell
bwpowell(a)sympatico.ca
Strathroy, Ontario, Canada
Thanks Sandy,
That is EXACTLY what happened with my Hale
family. They were coal miners in the Forest of Dean
and came directly to Cook Co., IL then to central Iowa
where we had a few coal mines in Marshall and Story
Counties.
I had assumed they arrived in Halifax but maybe
I'd better search Quebec also. I'll go join that list.
My problem is that they came over around 1865
or 1866, too early for most of the records.

Thanks for the help with the above request. I have learned that my
ancestor, Charles L. TROUT, did not arrive in MI until after 1910, and was
gone by 1918, so I think that I am out of luck with the census unless there
was a state census in 1915.

Does anyone have access to the following periodicals:
"Clarks 1700-1900 New England and Middle West" or
"Miscellaneous Clarks in New England and Midwest 1700 - 1850"
Aparently this includes MI. Some of my line are mentioned in these and I
have a problem verifying some dates. Can anyone help me?
Virginia
Greetings,
My James and Lucy (Thorne) Hale with their
6 or 7 children came from Gloucestershire, England
to Canada (Halifax?) in about 1865. They entered the
USA at Port Huron in about 1866.
I have been unable to locate any type of
records for immigrants along that path.
Does anyone know of a source for any
such records?

Hi Shirley and List,
Cannot say for positive, as I do not have my own copy of the 1881 UK
Census...
But, where it says "New York [BS] America, is this where it lists the
birth place of the individual?
If that is the case, I would believe that "BS" would stand for "British
Subject", but born in New York...
Hope this helps, maybe someone else will tell you for sure...
Good Luck,

>I'm researching ancestors from England. I have not done a lot of research in foreign records so I need help on this one. In the 1881 British Census, my ancestor is listed with name, age, occ. etc then it says New York [BS] America. Can someone tell me what the BS would stand for? Could it be British Citizen? County abreviation? I need some help on this one.
