Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Greetings Gang,
On one of the Michigan Mailing lists which I am subscribed to someone
recently (seems like the past week) inquired about a female they were
searching for by the surname of Bliss or Blip. I can't remember which
mailing list it was on since I didn't save the original message.
I just discovered that one of my researching cousins, has a great
grandmother, Mary M. Bliss in one of her other lines, which I am not related
to.
Does anyone still have the original message or know who sent it. I would
like to connect these two researchers up, incase they can help each other.
Carrol in Michigan
For anyone who's interested, the Bureau of Land Management site is up and
running again, and the land patents are searchable once again:

If you've never checked it out, make sure you do!

They are still alive in Australia but I have lost contact with them.Alida was my mother's cousin.Alida did not remember much.

The Disbrow family has been thoroughly researched by Mike Disbrow. He
has two books published - the first is on line in the Disbrow Family RootsWeb

Hello Listers,
I'm new to the list, and seeking information on James True BAILEY. He
was born in England about 1818, emigrated to Canada where he lived for a
few years in Bowmanville, Ontario manufacturing pottery. I'm told that
in the early 1860s he moved from Canada to Michigan where he died.
Unfortunately, I don't know where in Michigan he and his family lived.
I would pleased to hear from anyone with connections to James BAILEY, or
from anyone with suggestions on how I might go about finding him. Any
help would be appreciated.

fast-spreading e-mail worm, possibly from Japan, is encircling the globe and
flooding e-mail servers with excessive messages.
Fbound (w32.fbound.c@mm, also known as Zircon.C, DotJayPee, Fbound.b) is 12,288
bytes in length, and, unlike other recent worms, does not install itself on the
infected machine but instead runs from memory. Mac and Linux users are not
affected.
Fbound is capable of sending large amounts of e-mail but does not damage or
delete files on the infected computer. Because of the increasing reports of this
worm around the world, Fbound currently ranks a 6 on the ZDNet Virus Meter.
How it works
Fbound arrives by e-mail with the subject line "Important." If the recipient's
computer language is set to Japanese or if the recipient's e-mail address ends
with .jp, the subject line is chosen from 16 Japanese-language subject lines
contained within the worm. There is no body text associated with this worm. The
attached file is named patch.exe.
If the attached file is opened, Fbound locates the infected user's SMTP server
and e-mail address. Then the virus loads itself into memory and sends copies of
itself to addresses found in the Windows Address Book.
Unlike many worms, Fbound doesn't install itself on an infected computer, nor
does it add or change any registry files. Once the worm has been run, it will
not run again. Because Fbound encodes all of its code into one line and does not
comply with SMTP encoding, it may sometimes bounce e-mails it sends or arrive as
a noninfectious e-mail.
Code within Fbound contains the following message: "I-Worm.Japanize."
Prevention
Users of Microsoft Outlook 2002 and users of Outlook 2000 who have installed the
Security Update should be safe from the attached EXE file in Fbound.
Users who have not upgraded to Outlook 2002 or who have not installed the
Security Update for Outlook 2000 should do so.
In general, do not open e-mail attachments without first saving them to hard
disk and scanning them with updated antivirus software. Contact your antivirus
vendor to obtain the most current antivirus signature files that include Fbound.
Removal
Almost all of the antivirus software companies have updated their signature
files to include this worm. This will stop the infection upon contact and in
some cases will remove an active infection from your system. For more
information, see Central Command, Computer Associates, F-Secure, Kaspersky
(known here as Ziron.c),McAfee, Norman, Panda, Sophos, Symantec (known as
Dotjaypee), and Trend Micro (known here as Fbound.b).
OOPS! Michilimackinac's northern boundary was above the straits not below.
The northern boundary included Mackinac, part of Luce, part of Schoolcraft,
part of Delta, all of Mennominee and part of Dickinson. The islands must have
been in it as well.
Sorry,
Dee
Michilimackinac boundary lines changed quite a bit between 1810 & 1850.
The 1850 boundary of Michilimackinac could be described as a northern line
below the straits. Its southern line running below ( west to east ) the
modern counties of Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon, Ogemaw and Iosco.
A GREAT book to purchase is:
Map Guide to the U.S. Federal Censuses 1790 - 1920 by William Thorndale and
William Dollarhide
This could be the BEST investment any genealogist could make.
Dee
New to the Michigan Collection is county and township maps for Gratiot,
Clinton, and Shiawassee Counties. The township maps show the sections,
schools, and cemeteries. They are from the 1916 Bowen's Michigan Atlas. I
will be adding the rest of the counties as time permits.
Tonight I added the 1925 Laingsburg High School graduating class.
