Hi list,
I am again trying to figure out this puzzle. This area (Ireland) is new for
me and I haven't had much luck. My g grandfather James S. McCollum / McCALLUM
was born 11 Jan 1865 in Prescott Michigan according to my grandmother's
Bible. But he was first married to some lady name Clara _____? last name
unknown. They had some children. She died and he later married Olive Adalade
JONES and had more children. I have some information on him and some Census.
**** This is what I would really like to know****I was told that James S.
McCollum / McCallum's mother came from Northern Ireland. She was from what
they call the Orange Section. Since I don't have a first name last name is
Sharp / Sharpe. I do not know if she came over by herself or with her family.
I would really like to find my g g grandparents. Can anyone give a helping
hand with this one?
God Bless
Pam
Marilyn,
I have the obit that you were looking for. I need an address to mail to.

Karen very kindly brought my attention to the fact Michigan did not keep Official records until 1867 so is a bit doubtfull I may find the records at the courthouse.
If marriages are not kept at Courthouse then would assume are at St Annes
or another Catholic parish in Detroit or someplace else. I have no access
to them nor do I have the money (beeing unemployed) to hire someone to
search the records for me unfortunately.
I just hope someone would please consent to look for the marriages.
OR If someone is related to these Benoit individuals I would appreciate
hearing from them in hopes a connection can be made.
Believe all are Detroit Marriages.Mainly interested in knowing WHO the parents were for the Benoits listed below.
Charles Benoit married Sophie Mery March 19,1861 Wayne County, Mich.
John Petit Benoit married Louise Winnay Nov 23, 1865 Wayne Co Mich
Leo Breisacher married Sophie Benoit Dec 22, 1859 Wayne County, Mich
Thank you so much,
Kathy
The big problem here is that these are ALL before Michigan began keeping
Official records. You may be able to find these but if not, check for
church records and "unofficial" Sources. Michigan began keeping official
records in 1867.

Hello all,
I just had the great news from the www.familysearch.org new on-line 1880
US Census of finding a cousin who I had no idea where he was. Wow!!
George Seward, age 25, was (surprisingly) found living with an older
sister, Mary E. Coleman, her husband, George E, and four year old son,
Jesse. They are in Ingersoll, Michigan. [Didn't know the Coleman's were
there either.]
A younger brother, Andrew Seward was (found by a kind soul over a year
ago ) living in this town the same year. He at some point moved on to
Oregon where he died.
What I'd love to know is if ole George married and stayed in Ingersoll
(or as a family notation has it, he died in 1888 is true), so I'm asking
if anyone has access to the 1900 census to check this out for me. He
would be 45 then. Or death records of 1888.
Also are George and Mary Coleman still in Ingersoll in 1900?
I would truly appreciate any information. Still hoping to find cousins
in Michigan.
Any suggestions will be graciously welcomed.
Thanks,
Evelyn in Colorado

Many US States are covered in these from N.Y. to Washington State along with
many nationalities. This route was to the north and was taken by people
because it cost less and was quicker, but the US government did not start
