Battle Creek Enquirer Oct. 23, 1986
Jack I. Mapes, of 1267 Avenue A, died Tuesday in Leila Hospital, where he was
taken after being stricken at home.
He was born in Olivet, served in the U.S. Navy during World War ii and had
resided in Battle Creek since 1945. He was employed more than 30 years by the
old Michigan Carton Co., and its successors, St. Regis Paper Co. and Michigan
Paper Board Board Co., until ill health forced his retirement two and half
years ago.
He is survived by his wife, the former Madonna M. Corkins; sons, Thomas I. of
Battle Creek, Kenneth D. and Robert A. Mapes, both at home; two grandchildren;
his twin sister Jackie Perry of Constantine; and brothers, Richard Mapes of
Mendon, Gene Mapes of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Wallace Mapes of North Carolina,
and Raymond Mapes of Alaska.
Services will at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.
