Dave, thanks for the Joppa information. Taylor's Choice was also the
name of the land owned by one of my ancestors in said area. Billie

Around 1707 the Maryland Assembly passed a law for the creation of a
town
and erection of a courthouse on land called Taylor's Choice. This
was
the
town of Joppa, named for the port of biblical Joppa mentioned in the
books
of Acts.
Because of some problems with the Queen of England and other
difficulties,
the town did not become official until 1724. It was located at the
neck of
land at the mouth of the Gunpowder River where the present Joppatown
is
located. The port of Joppa, which was its mainstay, slowly filled
with silt
to a point where it could not support sea trade vessels and the town
eventually died. Joppa Road was created to connect Joppa and
Baltimore. Well
not created for some of the course was actually a Susquehannock and
Shawnee
Indian trail used until around 1675.
