Subject: [MDGEN-L] Map of Evolution of MD. Counties?
Does anyone know if there are maps on the internet or in books that
show the
formation and evolution of MD. counties and their boundaries--in other words,
how they boundaries changed as they evolved?
I found a website showing how Kent and St. Mary's Counties
evolved, and I
understand there is a CD available for about $79.00, but I was hoping their
might be a free website or a book I could obtain through inter-library loan.
Thanks

for a repro of a map which shows the 1695 boundaries and the later
boundaries ca 1900. it comes from a book dating to about 1920 which is a
history of episcopalian parishes etc, and it is interesting if a little
tough to read -- even in the original.
There is also a reference book, called something like "the Historical Atlas
of Maryland", which takes maps from the earliest up to about 1876.
If you have more questions contact me off list.
If you can't get this book -- which will probably be impossible to be from
Interlibrary Loan -- I am not a professional researcher but might be able
to help you get some stuff from this atlas since I am not far from the
Maryland Collection at Washington College (Chestertown MD).
