First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the previous help
offered via emails.
It was very helpful and my trip to Maryland proved to be a good one
... thanks !
That trip has led to a new, interesting turn of events ... one I could
use a little assistance with
if possible. A documentation on my Nicholas Marquart was found in
microfilm of "German
Reformed Church Records", Negative Roll #3, dated 1782 - 1844. This
information could
be an error or a dead end but I would like to check it out as
thoroughly as possible.
The hand written church record lists Nicholas Marquart's death (Nov.
10, 1836) in the
Shepherdstown records instead of Martinsburg where he was known to
have lived, but there
was a notation following his name (Martinsburg). My question is this,
is there any possibility
Nicholas Marquart could be buried in a Shepherdstown cemetery ? ...
is it possible there could
be more information in the Shepherdstown cemetery records ?
I realize a lot of tombstones from the 1836 (and earlier) time period
are lost to us, destroyed by
time and climatic elements, and the same minister appeared to service
both towns at this time
which could lead to a mistaken entry, but feel this is a stone I would
like 'not' to leave unturned.
I have tried to locate information on Shepherdstown and/or Jefferson
County, MD via an internet
connection, but at this time have not been able to find a connection.
Any suggestions and/or comments would be appreciated.
