If you live in or near Baltimore, you have an excellent opportunity to visit the National
Archives, the Library of Congress, or the DAR Library on a one day bus trip from Baltimore
to Washington DC. These trips are run once a month by the Baltimore Genealogy Research
Group, with Dianne Stenzel as the coordinator. These are an excellent way to get to these
major national research facilities without the hassle of driving and finding a place to
park. Especially if you have never been to them. You go with people who've been
there and can show you "the ropes," and they drop you off right at the door.
All three are great places to do research and have information and records that are not on
the internet, covering the entire country.
The next trip is scheduled for April 6, but the trip is in danger of being cancelled due
to lack of publicity. She needs a couple more people to go. If you are interested in
going April 6, you need to call Dianne Stenzel by Monday, March 21. (410-882-2047) You
will then need to mail her a check ASAP to help pay for the bus.
Cost, pickup times and locations, and other details are in the info below. If you
can't make the April 6 trip but still would like to go sometime, check out the
schedule below. If you decide to go anytime, you should plan your research using the
facility web sites and online catalogs. I've listed the web sites at the bottom of
this message.
Trip details from Dianne:
The cost is now $22.00 per trip to DC, but if you pay six months or more in advance the
cost is $21.00 per trip. The times and places are the same, but please remember our buses
are scheduled to leave promptly from the pick-up areas. The one exception "might
be" the Southwest Park n' Ride due to traffic... and we do not wait for
stragglers.
Timonium Park n' Ride 7:30 a.m., return about 5:30 pm
Carney Park n' Ride 8:00 a.m., return about 5 pm
Southwest Park n' Ride 8:30 a.m., return about 4:30 pm
We will be stopping at the same three spots, the Library of Congress, the National
Archives and the DAR Library. If you have any questions, please email me and I'll do
my best to answer them. bgrg_news(a)comcast.net Please join us when you can and please
spread the word about our trips.

Remember also, when you make your reservations, you need to send a check within 7 days to
hold your assigned seat. If it's not received within that time, I have the option of
moving you further back in the bus, but you will be notified if a change takes place. If
you need to cancel for any reason, if you cancel 14 days or more prior to the trip, your
money will be refunded, or you can apply it to a future trip. If you cancel 7 to 13 days
prior to a trip you will be given a credit on a future trip, but no money is refunded. If
you cancel less than 7 days, no money or trip is credited. If I cancel a trip due to the
weather, or because of not enough reservations, you can either get a refund or receive a
credit on a future trip. I must make a $100.00 deposit on each trip scheduled when I make
the reservations, and I must pay in full for these trips 26 days before they are scheduled
So to keep the trips from being canceled, I need the cooperation of everyone, and ask
that !
you please make your reservations as soon as possible. This does not mean that I will not
take late reservations, but since all seats are assigned, you take the chance of missing
the trip if we have a full bus. I hope to see you real soon and thanks for helping to
keep the trips running. I couldn't do them without you. Dianne
