The Maryland State Archives has a great set of very detailed
historical maps, which appears to be a separate map image for every District in every
County in Maryland. In addition to showing election Districts, they also have map images
of a number of specific communities. The Maryland map is listed as 1855, but the detailed
County and District maps are listed as from an 1865 collection. They show the residences
of many local inhabitants, plus churches and other landmarks.
I discovered this site by accident, and it is very difficult to find and link to from the
State Archives main web site. The maps are on a special web site they have set up on
Slavery and the Underground Railroad. I think at the main Archives site, you need to look
for Underground Railroad to get to them. It's a shame they have them hidden so
obscurely.

If you like the maps, I recommend you download the ones you need and bookmark the site so
you can find it again.
