I hope all of the folks contributing their and their families DNA for
genealogical use are fully aware of the other uses/abuses that can be made
of a DNA sample/record. I know that there are many trusting and trustworthy
people out there. However there are many who are not, worse yet there are
few laws protecting individual or group privacy, and the ones there are,
often aren't taken seriously.
If you think this is not a serious issue, you are extremely under informed.
I urge you to research the privacy issues, uses, and abuses (both actual and
potential) relating to DNA.
Research can begin at any Internet search engine or at your local library.
This will not be as much fun as genealogical research, and it will take more
than 30 minutes, BUT the issues and DANGERS as well as the potential
positives are truly awe inspiring.
Thank you for your time.
