Hi Listers
I apologize for this being rather lengthily, but I wanted to let listers know
what I have obtained.
I'm still trying to find information on my grandfather William J. Wilson.
What I mostly need is his actual date of birth. On my previous postings,
some gracious posters sent me a listing of William Wilson's buried in Mt.
Carmel Cemetery. I ordered death certificates from the Maryland Archives for
two of these Wilsons. When I get them, I will have to hold them for future
use, as I don't even know his parents names.
I know he was born in 1895 from my mother's birth certificate. I ordered a
birth certificate from Md Archives and received one I thought might have been
him, but the 1900 Md census showed differently. I called the Archives this
week and a young girl who was very helpful told me that they search for
births by the parents names. She thoughtfully sent me a copy of their index
for all the birth in 1895 in date order. There were approximately 30 listed,
but it only showed the parent's names, dates and certificate number. Not
even the gender was notated.
Documents I have:
Marriage log from the Baltimore City Court House for 2/13/1913, no dates of
birth on the register, just ages (they both lied about their ages since they
were underage and my grandmother used her middle name as her last name)
Divorce papers: first dated 3/6/1922, no dates of birth given, but William
J. did not attend the hearing because he was in City Jail. I called the Jail
record room, but they could not look up anything without a birth date. Also
from the divorce papers, I did find that they were married in Seventh Baptist
Church on North Ave & St. Paul St. I called and left a message, hoping they
will return my call. If they could find the record of the marriage, they
might be able to give me a date of birth even though the date is wrong maybe
he gave the right month & day.
Any suggestion where I might go from here?
