Lee,
Thank you for the explanation. It seems confusing when you aren;t actually
there to do it, but I wanted to have some idea before I got there of what to
expect. Thanks for the help.
Monica

Monica to find birth/death records..
THere is an index on microfilm by (1) COUNTY (or Baltimore CIty) and then
(2) YEAR. and lastly. (3) SURNAME.
so you can go to the index on microfilm for say Baltimore County for 1901
and look up deaths by the Surname, the index will ID
The page on the microfilm roll that has the actual death cert on it. So
you get that microfilm and load it a scan through to the correct page.
and read it or copy it... If it is not in the index, maybe try Baltimore
City because the person died there instead of the county, So you need to
pull the Baltimroe City Index for that year and check it..There is No
Master Index by Surnames - You have to know the county/city and date to
start or hunt through several if your not sure of the exact data.
It can take a few trys if your not sure...of place of death and the date..
The numbers you see on the MSA Website are the number of the microfilm
roll.
