Greetings to you all!
This is a great opportunity that should not be passed up!
As a list member of several other lists, I'd like to share what we have done
in the past to accomplish just such a project. If someone with a good
scanner could scan the records, they could then be delegated electronically
to those of us wishing to help transcribe the records. The transcribed
record data could then be uploaded into a searchable database online, or at
the least, create searchable PDF files and those of us willing to conduct
such searches, could look up names of loved ones for those interested and
pass along the search results.
"Many hands make light work" is a great old adage to apply here.
In the alternative, I have a fantastic scanner if someone was willing to
photocopy the card file and send it to me, I would be more than happy to
coordinate the project or help in any way.
Please let me know your thoughts. Feel free to email me privately at
"sconner4(a)neo.rr.com" if you prefer.

Letty,
I live in Annapolis and would be glad to try and complete the task you
mentioned. How should I go about contacting the minster?

Subject: [MDGEN] Visit to AA County
Hi to the list:
I just returned from Baltimore to visit cousins and did some genealogy
while I was there. We spent two days in Anne Arundel County. We
visited St. James Church and cemetary, Christ Church and cemetary and
several others. I found many of my husbands relatives but didn't break
down any brick walls as I still cannot find Samuel Wood, Sr. or his
wife, Susanna Steuart or there ancestors. But we did find lots of info.
I wanted to make a request that would make so many researchers happy.
At St. James Parish in Friendship/Lothian in Anne Arundel County there
is a job to be done and a volunteer with a computer could really help us
all. Unfortunately I live in Washington State so I can't do it.
Rev. Tichnor, the pastor, has very graciously make a card file that is
alphabetical of all the graves in the cemetary. Some stones are very
old and little can be deciphered but he tried to put down on the cards
as much as he could. If someone could volunteer who lives in the area,
they could record all the info in alphabetical order and share it with
us all. It would probably take about 8 hrs total to type it in.
Please, please, please, could someone on this list do that. Rev. Tichnor
is a wonderful person and is very helpful. He said he didn't believe
anyone had recorded the cards.
I may post some other info I found later.
