Dear Donna,
It looks like we definitely have a connection. You are the first person in
this line that I have been in contact with.
I don't have any information on Proverb's children, but this must be the
line. Cassander/Cassandra, my ggggrandmother and Tyson's sister, had six
children that I know of - Mary, Anna (my gggrandmother), Thomas, Emma, Tyson,
and Helen TRUNDLE/TRUNNELL.
The Montgomery County Historical Soceity does have a file on the family, but
not much on Cassandra, Proverb, etc. If I figured things out correctly. I
have only been able to trace them back as far as Zadok BURRESS and wife Ruth
(Butt?).
I grew up in Chevy Chase, off of Wisconsin Ave, just outside of Bethesda, I
went to B-CC High School, etc. My husband was transferred to the Atlanta,
GA. area 15 years ago. I still get back to Montgomery County a few times a
year to visit my mother and try to stop by the historical society in
Rockville while there. I never heard anything about the Native American
connection, but then again I don't think my mother knew anything about the
BURRESS/BURROWS part of the family. She has althzeimer's now. I stumbled
upon Mary BURROWS while looking for ancestors of my mother's grandmother.
I would be happy to send you copies of the info I have from the Montgomery
County Historical Society, if you are interested. Where is the Eldbrook
Methodist Church Cemetery? From what I have been able to determine,
Cassandra BURRISS TRUNNELL was buried at the old Presbyterian Cemetery in
Georgetown, DC, along with her husband Isaiah. That cemetery was asphalted
over and is now Volta Place park. A lot of the bodies were reinterred, but
I cannot find Cassandra and Isaiah. A lot of families could not afford to
move bodies, so I fear there are basketball courts over them now.
I would love to hear what else you know about the family,
Carolyn
