I dont know if it helps but there was a Swaine family in my area, Westtown, NY, years ago.
They moved to New England prob 15 years ago.
Also if anyone knows about an article in Country Life,
British edition, 2012, about the Vaughns in Tretower Court in Wales, I would like to find
that article. It was in February issue, but Im having no luck emailing them and finding a
copy. My Dads family was originally from the Vaughns, moved to Brittany, France(whete the
"De" was added) then to Maryland. I can't find anything before my Dad,
William DeVaughn. His Dad was James DeVaughn. Any help appreciated.

I am researching William Swain b Maryland ca 1777 died in Ohio 1852. William
served with the 17 Regiment Bealls Maryland Militia during the War of 1812 and
was awarded a land bounty. He married twice and possibly a third time. His first
or second wife was Sarah Ann Wilson his last wife was Eliza Burris. Eliza and
William were married in 1828 Montgomery County Maryland. The reason I suspect
there may be a third wife is that the first to children I have record of Thomas
and James were born 1803 and 1804. The next child was William G who was born
1814 and Henry born 1822. Henry's death certificate say that his mother was
Sarah Wilson. William also had a daughter Mary Ellen born 1822 she married
Joseph Piggott I think her mother was Sarah. After marriage to Eliza she and
William had 2 children Otha and John before leaving Maryland. Sometime around
1833 they moved to Ohio where he and Eliza had 4 more children. Zachariah,
Samuel( my GG grand father ) Adeline and Jeremiah. The minor children starting
with Zack were awarded his land bounty pension in about 1855 after William died
in 1852.
I would appreciate any help I can get on William's life and family while they
lived in Maryland.
Thank you very much! Ray Harlow Elida, Ohio

A cousin brought to my attention yesterday a marriage in DC in 1814. William Swain to
Millie Wilson. I don't know that this is the same William Swain but I find it
interesting in that one of William's wives was Sarah A Wilson and here is a William
Swain marrying another Wilson. Ray
