I began my quest with Shadrack Larue marrying Rebecca Wayman in
Frederick Co. MD in Dec. 1821. In the register of Prince Georges Parish
(Rock Creek) in Montgomery CO. MD, John & Cassandra Wayman are listed as
having 4 children: Perry (b. 1790), Rebecca Ann (b. 1794), John Warfield
(b. 1796) and Francis Deakins (b. 1798). Both Perry and Francis were in
the same area of Maryland as Rebecca in 1820. The age of Rebecca Wayman
Larue in the 1830 and 1850 census records support the identification of
this Rebecca Wayman as the daughter of John and Cassandra.
But where do John and Cassandra come from?
A James Perry left a will in Montgomery Co. MD in 1802, mentioning two
daughters (no names given) of deceased niece Cassandra Wayman.
Apparently both John and Cassandra died young.
It seems likely that this Cassandra Wayman was a daughter of one of
James Perry's sisters. I've seen that he had a sister Rebecca that
married an Alexander Offutt and that they had a daughter named
Cassandra. The family names certainly fit (though what the connection
might be with the Warfields and Francis Deakins I do not know).
Is anyone else working on these families?
