Dorian was perhaps Doris Fielding Reids nephew... For some reason something told me to
recheck the 1920 and 1930 census records.
Francis F. Reid, her brother, was married as of the 1920 Balitmore MD census living with
his wife Mamie F age 24 born Norway and a son Francis D age 2 born in VA.
In 1930 Balitmore MD Francis is living back home with parents and wife's name this
time is Marie (either O or D) 35 born Norway their children: Ernest Age 11 born MD,
Elizabeth 10 MD, Madelin 8 MD, Mary 7 MD.
What is throwing me off is both wives are listed as being born in Norway so perhaps they
were sisters or related in some way and his first wife dies. Also the wives ages and
childrens ages are so close. Looks like it states she (1st wife) arrived 1912 and was
naturalised in 1917 as shown on 1920 Balitmore Census 1930 census shows 1911. Note there
is no son listed with the name Francis F Reid nor any child born in VA on the 1930
census.
On the 1930 New York Census Doris Fielding Reid (Francis sister) and Edith Hamilton are
living in New York. In their household is Dorian F. Reid age 12 born VA Father: MD Mother:
Norway and is listed as adopted son. Not sure in which state the adoption records are
located.
Without being in Maryland it is hard to check for a marriage or marriages for Francis or
death record for his what I am calling first wife Mamie F. Reid or adoption records.
I am assuming with the wives having different names and that there is no Francis D Reid
listed in 1930 household, both census state wives born Norway that Dorian Fielding Reid
was Francis's son from his first Marriage. On the census it doesn't indicate that
he was married previously.
Any thoughts and assistance on this one is appreciated. I am not related to this family
but I am working on a memorial bio for Doris Fielding Reid. I want to know if indeed
Dorian was her nephew and they gave him a different name. Just a nice mystery I am trying
to work on getting the facts correct and solved.
Thanks,
Jeffery Johnson
