Hello:
Can anyone tell who the wife of Robert Johnston of Caroline CO was and
their children. Additionally, can anyone help me with his will. The VA
State Archives has it under the personal collection papers.. and is most
likely his final settlement and inventory. I will pay for gas and
copies!!
Also would like to get more information on the JOHNSTON/JOHNSON family
as it is getting very confusing to me... I am stuck at William Johnston
Sr., who married Rachel Spears in Bourbon Co., KY. I believe his father
was Robert Johnston who married Peggy McClanahan. William Sr.'s son
William H. Johnston owned my ancestors that came from Bourbon Co. KY
into Boone and Cooper County Missouri. A little homework has lead me
into Paris KY [William Johnston married Margaret Hutchinson who was from
Paris... her parents were William Hutchinson and Margaret Hickman]. I am
particularly interested in the ownership of slaves in this family which
is very complicated at best.
Here's were I get stuck -- who is Robert Johnston who married Margaret
Peggy McClanahan's father? RObert Johnston of Caroline Co., or do I have
the wrong line. I found Robert and Peggy mentioned in the will of Thomas
McClanahan, "Peggy's" father. Peggy's sister Clara married David
Hickman - Margaret Hutchinson's [noted above] father. There is also a
McClanahan connection -- John Marshall McClanahan -- who comes to
Morgan CO., MO and ties into the ownership of my ancestors via the
Chism/Howard and Tutt families. I also was under the impression that
Robert Johnston of Caroline's father was William Johnston who married
Anna Marie Chew? So I am very lost somewhere in this game.
If anyone has a copy of the Johnstons of Caroline Co., by Elbert Felton
or can help me track down a used copy -- please let me know... I am in
the market for an inexpensive copy.
I know their is a connection to the William Johnson who married
Elizabeth CAVE because I can trace the Johnson/Cave connection into
Boone County, Missouri
Thanks
