I don't think they are automatically printed One of my uncles died recently, and his wife refused to allow an obit to be printed. She was just being mean to the rest of the family. I don't really know the normal process though.

Hi,
Did you realize that there is a difference between a "death notice" and an
"obituary".
A death notice is often put in by the mortuary and an obituary by the
family.

I thought they were printed automatically so I appreciate the information
that they are not. Perhaps the family requested it not be printed though I
can't imagine why.
A cousin I hadn't seen for many years died in Joppa, MD on March 14, 2005.
I checked the Baltimore Sun for several days and never saw an obit. Is this
common, or might it have been printed in another newspaper?
Thank you.
Thanks for writing.

I am a Young, my g-g-grand father maried Caroline Turner in Balitmore. 23
November 1843. I don,t know if this of any value to you or not. I also have a
Brightwell Wilson in my family, who is from Maryland.
Homer Young
My husband's Wilson's are from the early-mid-1800's in Baltimore. They are
there by 1833.
Maria Wilson b. ca 1816 in Maryland married Thomas Turner b ca 1810 in
England -married in Baltimore Aug 30 1833. Her mother's first name is
Rachael b ca 1794 in Maryland. The only other information on the Turner's
that I have beside children forward (George, Marcella, Sarah Jane, Rachael,
Isabel) is the fact that they were not Catholic. Since they had only one
son that I know of, it would be hard to tell who if anyone he was named
after. But this family reuses names generation after generation much to the
dismay of the current Marcella.

HOPKINS, MORGAN, BROWN,
I am still stumped by my Hopkins family in Owing Mills Baltimore County Md.
Charles Cornelius Hopkins (1829-1923) surviving child of John W.Hopkins (C
1793- 1839) and Mary Brown (1800-1854) whose marriage record is included in
the Archives as blessed by a Methodist Minister registered at Light St.
Church. Charles C. Hopkins later married first Naomie W. Morgan (1829-1864) at
the same place 8-Nov 1850 both living near each other as servants on distant
relatives on the Owings Mills Census of 1850.
The only recorded burial is of CCH at St Thomas Garrison Forrest but an
historian believes at least his mother was buried there too.
WE know nothing else about Naomie's parents.
Her children were:Sally, Alverda, Milton Fillmore, Missouri Agnes, Florence
H., Matt, and Charles E. Hopkins.
BY a second wife Margaret A. Davis, he had John, Virginia, Lillie and Ed.
Are there any cousins here? Pat

Hi list,
the above site has recently been updated with various records
covering Settlement,Bastardy,Apprentice,Removal etc.
Derbyshire based it contains many names of folks from other counties who
for one reason or another had a connection ,however tenuous with
Derbyshire. There are references to named pupils leaving school and leaving
for America.
It may be you have no Derbyshire connections, I expect most of you will not
have, however a lot of you will have English ancestors and the above site
will give you an idea of just what may be found in certain documents in
English Record Offices.
And you never know what you may find.
It may just be your lost Uncle Jack is here. !

Hi
I have a number of deaths reported by the Social Security Death Index that
do not include the actual date of death only the month and year.
The time frame is 1970 - to present.
Before I start looking for their obits I'm trying to find either the state
death index online or some kind soul that has access to the index and can do
a lookup for the 5 or 6 that I need exact dates for.
Can anyone help me??
Thanks,
Jack O'Connor, NJ
