Greenbury Johnson was my gg-grandfather! Your g-grandmother, Sarah Francis
Johnson was my g-grandmother's sister! My g-grandmother was Laura Virginia
Johnson that married Hamilton Henry Simpson in 1876.
Please e-mail me off list. I would love to share information with you.

I believe I saw that book, or one similar to it, at the Montgomery County,
MD. Historical Society Library when I was there last summer. You might call
or write to them to see if they can do a lookup for you. Library Home Page

Bonnie,
Have you looked into the Savage Cemetery, in Howard Co. There are a lot of
Shipleys
buried there. In the 1800,s, our family doctor was Dr. Shipley. As a matter
of fact Dr. Frank Shipley brought me into the world. I don't know if this is
any help or not, I hope it is..............................Homer

Does anyone have a copy of the book, " Directory of Ministers and the
Maryland Churches They Served 1634 to 1990 " by Edna Kanely ? I contacted
the publisher, Willowbend books in Westminster and was informed it is out of
print and, they do not anticipate availability for at least one year. Living
in Southern California does not access me to a source, I have checked all
local libraries and book stores to no avail. I am specifically looking for
any and all information on a Reverend Musgrove or Musgrave of Baltimore city
who performed the mariage ceremony of my third grandparents, Steward and
Agnes Jameson Chambers in 1840 in Baltimore. I will be happy to purchase the
book or, would GREATLY appreciate a lookup on Reverend Musgrove. Thank you in
advance.
It is not the policy of the church to talk to you about way we
believe. If you were to ask, they probably would be glad too.The library
is in the church bldg. If the bldg has been there a long ime the library
should have alot of records for your use or they my be able to give you
advise as to where to look. Cole in Portland ,OR

Hi Jim,
I have an Edward Long born 1675 in Yorkshire, England who married a
Elizabeth Turner in 1704 in Yorkshire, England. I believe they came to
America in the early 1700's but can't find where they lived. They had a son
named Thomas Long born 1714 who was in Chester County in 1732 as he paid
taxes that year and married in 1735. I can't find where they lived after
they married so am grasping for straws. They had a son named Edward Long
that was born 1737 and he moved after he married to Loudoun Co., VA. Have
you seen an Elizabeth Turner or Thomas/Martha Long in your search for the
Turners. Thanks,
Sandra Long

Maryellen:
I remember having to watch a film about 'researching
family' the first time I went to the Kensington LDS
FHC but there's never been any prostelizing there or
at any other FHC I've been to.
However, I have a question for you ... are you
researching Maryland? If so, you're much better off
going straight to the Archives on Rowe Blvd.

Jim,
Thanks for the information on the Turner/Gilbert line. This may be help for
me. My grandfather's name was Gilbert and his grandmother was Turner. I don't
know now, but I am going to look into this, there may be somthing here. If I
come up with something, I will let you know.
Thanks again,............ Homer
Maryellen,
I have been to a few LSD libraries, including the large Temple in
Kensington, and not once did anyone ever approach me about church
dealings at all. Nor do they have any church things in the library.
I found them to be very helpful in what I was looking for. I did have to
send away for things from the main Temple in Salt Lake, but all I had to
do was fill in a form, pay a nominal charge, and the item arrived about
a week later. I did find several things I was looking for at the
libraries themselves.
I suppose the bottom line depends on what you are looking for. Don't
worry about the church trying to push the religion on you at all.

Have any of you been the LDS Family History Center in Annapolis? Is it worth the visit? I only live about 5 minutes away, but don't want to waste anybody's time there. Also, is it completely separate from the church, or do they try to talk about it to you? These are probably silly questions, but if the center can be of any help, I would hate to miss out.
Thanks,
Maryellen
Homer;
I have very little info on my Turner ancestors, so I don't know if/how they
connect to your line. All I have is from the book "Major William Boarman" and
his descendants by Mary Louise Donnelly is which she states" "William
Boarman, the son of William Boarman and Jane Neale was born about 1685 in
Charles County, Maryland. He married Monica Turner, the daughter of Thomas
Turner and Elizabeth Gilbert. Monica received "St. Dorothy's" from her
father's estate in 1696/7 (Will 7:279). On 6/25/1714 the 263 acre tract, "St.
Dorothy's", was resurveyed for Monica and her husband William Boarman. Jr.
(Rent rolls 7&8:70). Monica died prior to 1721."
I have not worked this line yet, so any information on this Turner/Gilbert
line would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim Holt
