Peter:
We have a couple of people who will do tombstone
look-up's in Cecil Co. on the MD Tombstone
Transcription Project page:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/maryland/cecil.html
There was a large COLE family in Anne Arundel &
Baltimore Co.'s very early and Edward could very well
have been connected to them. English, originally Quakers.

Peter,
I have no info about Cole except to know that it is a big name in NJ.
However, I have surnames that match yours. Curtis is one; although you refer
to the mill, not to people.
I have a lost great-grandmother Kathryn/Catherine (spelling?) McHugh or
McCue, etc (spelling iffy).
She was born 1866 Ireland; Married to Benjamin F Johnson of Toms River NJ,
sometime before/about 1890. She Remarried Clayton of NJ after 1918.
We have ancestors from Odessa, DE, from Salisbury/Worcester counties, MD:
Curtis; Dale, Ellison/Eliason. One from MD was the first to be buried in MD
with full Masonic Honors.
I am very interested to know if you have the same McCue people.
I have other Maryland surnames if you wish; just have not made a surname
list for that branch yet. I can share with you, in case there is a
connection somewhere.
Also, Cole might come from Kohl, a German surname from PA. The spelling of
that has become anglicized over time.
Would like to exchange info, if you think anything might fit.
Sincerely, Elizabeth Johnson (Liz)

I am trying (unsuccessfully so far) to locate the origins of a Josiah
Mitchell from Maryland. Born around 1837, his father was Cyrus and both were
seamen. Josiah came to the UK, married Ada Amelia Hansford in 1869 and in
1881 was living in West Hartlepool in the north of England. He died there in
the early 1900's. Apart from these details I know nothing more about his
life in Maryland.
I hope someone somewhere has come across him before in any form of records.

Dear Readers,
I am interested in contacting descendants of two Herbert young people who emigrated from Ireland to the Baltimore area. Family lore indicates that two children of a Patrick Herbert left Ireland, where they were born, and emigrated to the Baltimore area about the year 1830 around the time that their father remarried, marrying a Margaret Giblin. The father known as Patrick may have been called Peter or even George. The name of his first wife in not known. Story has it that Patrick Herbert, who was probably born around 1800 in County Mayo, Ireland had two children by his first wife. Names and sex not known. After the death of his first wife he married Margaret Giblin with which he had one child Patrick Joseph Herbert, born May 1, 1837 in County Mayo.
Please contact me if you know about this family or if you are connected to it.
Thank you,
Dan Barrett
