New York has Ellis Island and you can find out about your immigrate

Does anyone know what Philadelphia, PA has in reference to what Ellis

Hello
I am looking for DAVIS in Maryland:
This is what I have:
James C DAVIS married Mary Ann GRAVES in 1847 in Baltimore County.
Both were from Virginia. Resided in Fork, MD {Baltimore Co.}
They had several children, I know of these:
Roberta who married Cornelius DeMoss
Harriet who married A.H.Abrams
Effie who married Jackson Duncan
Virginia who married John Howard Cornthwaite in 1882 & resided in

Quakers when they married.
John DAVIS became a doctor & graduated from U of MD in 1887 & practiced

I am looking for info on any of the above. Would especially like more on
James C & Mary Ann DAVIS.
Thank you very much

It is our pleasure to announce that the latest recipients of the MDGenWeb
County Spotlight Award of Excellence are . . .
HOWARD COUNTY ( http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdhoward/ )
BALTIMORE COUNTY ( http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdbaltim/ )
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY ( http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdannear )
All three sites are coordinated by Lee Garlock. Lee's sites have grown into
an awesome resource for folks researching in those areas. Content-rich and
pleasant but not flashy, they have quietly been so good, for so long, that
we almost overlooked them. Take a good look, though, and you'll be amazed at
the amount of good, solid, practical information, tips, and data Lee has
amassed. Congratulations, Lee, on your accomplishment.

Visit all the MDGenWeb County pages - you'll find a wealth of wonderful
information. If you'd like to nominate a site
for the MDGenWeb County Spotlight Award of Excellence, please send your
nomination (along with a short explanation of why you feel the site should
get the award) to Shari Handley mailto:shari@tyaskin.com or Carol Askey

I have been told that my g-g-grandparents were
from Maryland, William and Susannah Klise -
where I don't know. By about 1820 they were in
Tiffin, OH, and they died in Peru, IN (Miami
Co.).
When in Maryland this summer I found seven
Clice's in the phone book. Apparently the
spelling of this name has really changed.
I am at a brick wall with this family.

I hope someone can help me I am really stuck.
If anyone has a book or cd covering births or
christenings could you see if you have a James
H. Hall born in 1812. I will take all the
names I can get and try and connect them.
Right now all I know is James H. Hall was born
in 1812 in Maryland and was married in Ohio in
1834. I have good information on him from 1834
to 1880 in Kentucky then he disappears again.
Probably died but cannot find a death record or
obituary. Any leads on a James Hall born in
the year 1812 in Maryland would really help.
Sincerely
Rodney Hall

List,
There are alot of us on the list that have
books and CD's and we are very glad to help by
doing look-ups. but we must have only 2 or 3
names and dates to do those look-ups. It is an
impostition to ask for anything more with a
common name like Smith or even less common
names where there are hundreds of entries on a
a CD or in a book.

Hi Jan and the list
Would you/or any on this list by chance know where I may be able to
locate any thing on the earliest settlers of Chestertown MD? I received
some information while I was away and learned the Charles CAVILEER
family 1749-1816 was one of the earliest known familys who settled in
that part. I am not finding much on him, According to a partial gen.
written by his grandson this Charles was a Sailor/Captain of a ship
Baltimore (Wat), in which it traveled from Baltimore to New Orleans. I
have been unable to find anything concerning a ship by this name.
I was also wondering in an earlier census Either Queen Anns or Kent
County (I don't have it avail. off hand), It but mentioned "Oathe of
Fidelity" and the year was later 1700's. I am trying to figure out if
there may be the possibility that this CAVALIER could have been our
first Direct CAVALIER into America.
Help please?
May God Bless all!
Jan

Hi,
As a counselor who deals with tragedy on a daily bases . I know it is good
therapy for children to write down their feelings, it is a way to process how
they feel.
I would like to put a book together of such writeings. If you know of any
children who have this please e-mail me directly. I have spoken to my
employer and they have agreed to allow me to use their copier to duplicate.
Please e-mail the stories, poems, and thought from the children directly.
Please include the child's name, age, city and state.
Thank you
Anna Parker

Alan, I know there are many more freedom loving people like you out there; but I appreciate your words. So often we don't take the time to put into words how we feel.
A terrible atrocity has been committed against this nation, but I believe this has had just the opposite effect on the American people other than what the terrorists hoped for. Our nation has always performed the best in the face of adversity. We will survive and be the stronger for it.
We are a nation made of many ethnic groups including Muslims. These differences have made us the nation we are today. Through my genealogical research, have found many of those groups among my own heritage and am above all proud to be an American.
Thank you again for your words of comfort.
Please don't anyone forget to remember those individuals on United flight 93, who somehow prevented that plane from reaching it destination; but rather plowed that plane into the ground in Pennsylvania (40 miles from where I live). They are heroes in my book!

In common with every ethical, right thinking person across the world I share
your sorrow in your tragedy. Genealogy is about family, about what ties us
together. Take strength in the heritage that I have learnt a little of and
come to respect and show the world that a nations ethnic makeup is its'
strength and not its' weakness.
God bless you

I thank you for your warm message. I have just returned from work and have
just read it. Our country needs the prayers of everyone around the world.
I think most of us are still in a state of shock that something like this
could actually happen here. Life is too short to worry about the little
things. All those poor people in New York and the Washington area need all
the prayers and support this nation and world can give them. Please,
everyone, remember them in your prayers tonight and every night. Again,
thank your for your warm, kind message. I hope nothing like this ever
happens in your country. God bless all of us.
