Hello all! I'm new to this list but I wanted to take this opportunity to
invite anyone to check out my webpages which have research on the following
surnames from Baltimore: Blum, Hyson, Murphy, Riley, O'Neill(this surname
will be up and running shortly). If anyone has any connection to any of
these names, please contact me! Thanks. :-)

I just received a copy of one of my ancestors will. Question -
How does one determine the WEALTH of an ancestor back in
1847? Is there a chart available to compare present day values
with land values and cash from this time period.
For example, his property was appraised at $6,750. He had 125 acres of land, with
a mill, dwelling, house, water rights and "other improvements".
Was this considered a lot of $$ back then??
Thank you.

Just another HOAX -- A warning about the "Virtual Card for You" virus was
recently posted to this list. According to the virus protection experts,
this is just another hoax.
Please help control the problem of meaningless hoaxes spreading around
the internet -- passing on these messages only serves to further
propagate the hoax. Please do not disseminate virus warnings without
verifying their accuracy, which is easy to verify whether a warning is
real or a hoax -- Symantec maintains two public information sites
covering real viruses and hoaxes.
<http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/> has current information on real
viruses.
<http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/hoax.html> has info on known hoaxes.

Ann if you right click on the name and when a list of choices appears
click on reply or return to sender and the address will pop up on a
new e-mail screen. You just have to use the trial and error method.
That's how I do it and it works.
Maybe if you just click the reply button the person's address will pop
up on a new e-mail screen.
Good luck

At this point I will take whatever information I can get. Family lore has
it this is the same line as J. C. Penney, but I can't find anything about my
Penney at all. I have found lots on the J. C. Penny family, but cannot tie
in my family. Any help would be appreciated.

These families all lived in Baltimore. In some cases I have reached dead
ends. Again, any help will be appreciated.

Cheryl -
I haven't had any other responses regarding KENLY from this list, but the
people you mentioned are definitely part of the same family. Edward
Kenly & Maria Keener Reese's son William Lacy Kenly was my
great-grandfather, and his brother John Reese Kenly was a general in the
Civil War. I have quite a bit of information on the Kenly family,
including contemporary descendants in the Baltimore area and other
states. I haven't updated the site for some time now, but you can find
more about the Kenly family at
http://www.users.fast.net/~crownfield/family/
At this point, I know very little about the Reese family -- I would
appreciate any additional information you have or can come up with!
