Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Thanks, Keith. I was told by a Marylander that Joppa was no longer in
existence but it was near or part of Gunpowder Falls State Park on the
north end of Maryland. Do you know of any place the church records of
Joppa could be? Billie

Thanks for the suggestion. As a matter of fact, I did email their main
address and they referred me to another section of their library, and I just
received their response with an updated address and that it is held by
Cvach Funeral Homes.
Many thanks (and laughs) to those who responded and tried to help.

My Mary was born later than 1701/2, but I'm not surprised at the name
change. There were more clerks to misspell the name than there were
names. Billie

I know my Mary was born ca. 1715-20 but I don't know where. I do know
she lived on Gunpowder River in a place called Joppa that is no longer
existing. Her name is spelled Bailey and Bayley, but having it to
change to Baxley is not uncommon. In that era it seems the clerks more
or less ruled on the spelling of the names. It was eaiser to join
them than to fight them. Billlie

There is a book "The Greer Family" at the MD Historical Society that may
have the answers to those questions.

You could e-mail the main branch of the Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore
with that question. They'd e-mail you an answer in 24 hours.

Hoping to find any and all information regarding CHarles Edward FLORA
b. 12-06-1870 in Baltimore, MD. Father was Edward and mother's name
TRACY. I believe that was her maiden name unless it was her given name.
My AUnt's husband gave the information for the death certificate for
Charles FLORA and may not have known the correct information. I believe
that Edward and his wife were both born in MARYLAND but have no dates to
uphold this theory. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. I do
have a little info on a Thomas E. FLORA. ANyone know anything abouat
this family? HE has a son, EDWARD born 1869 and this is the closest I've
been able to come up with. IS there a place where school records can be
checked and stuff like that? I live in Wisconsin so if I knew where I
could check perhaps I could get the libraries help to look. Thanks in
advance and good luck with all of your searches. Sincerely, Mary

I'm curious as to which Quakers in Md. you are researching. I had a
number of them in the late 1600s and early 1700's- -mainly Underwood,
Wilcocks, Meeres, and some others before they moved to PA. and points
beyond. Billie

There is a funeral home named Betts Funeral Home. One of the people that I
work with says that it is on the corner of Caroline and Orleans Streets, lbut
the address according to the phone book is 1129 N. Caroline Street. The phone
number is 410-522-0552.
Hope this helps.

I am considering ordering a book called Maryland Easter Shore Vital
Records-1648-1825. Does anyone know what counties this would detail? I am
looking for births of ancestors and have no info on city or county, just the
state of Maryland. If you have seen this research book I would appreciate
your opinion on the information before ordering.
Thanks
Ed
