Margaret. Richard was b.1809 and m. 1837. Ring any bells?

Ellen,
Thanks so much for checking, I received to other replies to my question. Both
came with an attachment. With all the virus's going around I unfortunately
had to delete them. Maybe the senders will resend without the attachment.
Just a caution.
Thankyou again

Sharon,
No, I'm sorry but there isn't any other information on Elizabeth Oswald's
mother. I also checked the index in the book for any other Oswalds or
Watsons but there weren't any. It was worth a shot!

To be on the safe side, I am sending this message to everyone in my address book.
My computer was infected by a worm and a virus (which are described below) and it is clean now.
*************************************************************************************************************************
W32.Badtrans
This worm that affects Windows systems arrives as an email attachment in a reply message from a previous email. If you open the attachment, the worm will create a file on your system that looks for password information and records your keystrokes, and then sends the information back to the creator of the worm. It then will send out copies of itself by replying to any unread email messages in Microsoft Outlook.
W32.Magistr
This complex Windows virus, first discovered in March, has been spreading across the Internet and is becoming a larger threat. It spreads as an email attachment ending with the file extension .exe or .scr. The email message itself has a randomly generated subject line and message text. If you receive an unexpected email message, especially someone you know, that contains a file ending in .exe or .scr, do not open the attachment: contact the "sender" to make sure the attached file is not a copy of this virus. Once it infects a machine, the virus will not only spread itself using email addresses found in Outlook Express, Outlook, and Netscape Messenger, but it will also infect other files and if present for 1 month will attempt to disable your computer in a variety of ways, including deleting all non-infected files on your computer.
**********************************************************************************************************************
This unfortunate thing came about because I changed my operating system to Windows Millennium and when that slowed down my computer, I changed it to Windows 98. In the process unbeknown to me, my Norton SystemWorks 2001 (which includes my antivirus program) was inactivated. Upon returning from a week of golf down south two days ago (Dec. 1), I had 68 messages waiting on me when I returned. In my haste to read these messages, I must have inadvertently become infected.
I very much appreciate the kindness of those people who alerted me concerning my problem, as well as those who alerted others that I had this problem. I deeply regret any grief that I may have caused due to my negligence. Upon reinstalling Norton System Works 2001, I am happy to say that my computer is free of both the worm and the virus. I would appreciate if those who alerted others, would please help to salvage my reputation by rectifying the situation.
Best Regards,
Jack

Dan,
You've either been very lucky or very careful! I don't think we should
downplay the importance of keeping your virusscan, browser and email
software up-to-date.
Some new viruses can launch in older versions of Outlook Express without you
ever opening an attachment. There is a patch that can help with that which
is available from Microsoft's website. Please, please, please make sure you
all take the time to check and update your programs! I've been guilty of
letting this go myself and it isn't worth the resulting trouble.

Ellen,
Any information on Elizabeth's mother's maiden name. I'm looking for some
connections to an Oswald Watson, It's a long shot I know. Thanks
Sharon in Delaware
I'm checking my mail very early in the a.m. to see a message from MD with an attachment--be careful!
Norton caught it and has isolated it. I hope most of you have an antivirus program. This is the fifth virus sent to me--four of them in two days.
I lost the data in one of my files from before the 1800s==about two centuries of people. My backup file had absolutely nothing at all in it! It must have been in the machine when the virus hit.
A friend told me back up, back up, baccckkk upp, baccccckkkkkk uppppppp. NOW I believe him.

Interesting
I have been dealing with the computers for years and never lost 1 file from

Could the name have been spelled SLIGH? The plural or possessive would
sound about the same. In my copy of the 1804 Baltimore City Directory
there is a Catherine Sligh, widow, listed at 111 Jones or French Street
(That's the way the street is listed. The street name must have changed.)
I know this isn't the person that you are looking for, but I thought that
you might be interested. There are none of the variations of the names
that you mentioned in the directory.
Roger Kearney
Looking for BAXLEY, BAILEY, KEARNEY, CARNEY in Baltimore from about 1790
till about 1805.
Does anyone have access to marriage records for the period of 1755-17563 for
Chester Co., PA. My ancestor Alexander ARAHAD (ORAHOOD, ARROWHOOD, et. al.)
paid personal property taxes as an unmarried "freeman" through 1757 and
became an "inmate" in 1758, that is a landless married man, over 21, married
to Ethelen (Possibly Ethalinda)?? (Last name unknown.)
Also does anyone have records for ships and/or immigrants from Scotland to
Baltimore about 1745 to 1755. I believe this same Alexander came through
Baltimore on the way to PA and thence to WV/VA and to OH. He may have been a
veteran of the Jacobite Wars and possibly indentured.
His second oldest son Thomas "ORCHEAD" enlisted in 1776 and fought in
numerous battles in the Revolutionary War (White Plains, Trenton, Princeton,
Germantown, Monmouth, Stony Point).
I would be happy to search records at The Newberry Library in Chicago in
exchange for help with data on my ancestors.

Looking for any information of Slice family in Maryland. My Catherine Slice was born about 1805 in MD. She married Michael Miller about 1824 and then lived in Pennsylvania. By the 1830s they went with children John T, George W, and Minerva to Knox County, OH. By the 1850 census, they were gone again to DeKalb County, IN.
