Hello
I am looking for any connection to the family of James E. WEER who worked
downtown Baltimore in the 1950's. I do not remember his wife's name but they
had 2 children one was a daughter Lindsay [ Lindy ] A. WEER who would be
about 61-62 now. I do not know her married name if there was one. Would
appreciate any help or direction.
Sincerely, Helen

Wish I didn't live so far away. I would go in a flash if I lived closer.
I live in Wisconsin so have to depend on the written word or telephone
and obviously snail and email. I would really love to be able to attend
some genealogical meeting like this someday. Researching the surnames of
FLORA, LeFLeur, Trac(e)y et al. SIncerely, Mary FLora-Cox
A note of reminder the BCGS will have a meeting on November 25, 2001.
The guest speaker is:
Francis O'Neill, Maryland Historical Society
Doing Genealogical Research at the Maryland Historical Society
Founded over 150 years ago in 1844, the library's collection of
genealogical information is
diverse and extensive. Mr. O'Neill will describe the many special files
in the library, including
the Dielman-Haywood File, the Norris-Harris File, and the Passano File.
The Library opens at 12:00 noon, the Computer Interest Group meets at 1,
the general meeting begins at 2, and the guest speaker is from 3 - 4.
Hope to see you there.

Vice President Baltimore County Genealogical Society.
Does anyone know where I can find a listing of what streets correspond
to the wards and districts for the Baltimore censuses? I have the
Census Online subscription from ancestry.com, but the years I want to
look up ancestors are not yet indexed. I know where these ancestors
lived in certain years, so I'd like to be able to narrow down my search.
Thanks!
Meriah
According to my map Patapsco neck is the pennisula that Dundalk Maryland and
Sparrows point are on. It is a general area not a city.

In the book "Historical Graves of Washington DC and Maryland" it states:
"On Patapsco Neck, about twelve miles from Baltimore and in the neighborhood of
North Point, are many places with traditions of early occupancy" -----------
apparently it existed.
no mention of Treadway (any spelling)
Louise

Hi Louise,
Thanx for the reply, but I haven't gotten my research back that far. Can't
connect at this point. My speculation is that two Dove brothers William H.,
b. 1839 in Maryland and his brother (first name unknown), b. Abt. 1840 in
Maryland? had parents also in Maryland. The unknown Dove brother married
Sarah? and they would be my GGGrandparents through their daughter Julia J.
Dove, b. July 1964 in Maryland who married, 18 Sep 1883, to James William
Smith, b. 1 Sep 1861 in Maryland. They were married in the United Methodist
Church in Prince Frederick, Calvert Co, MD. Your Doves may be in my line,
just don't know how to get there right now. I'd appreciate any assistance
you may provide.
Thanx.
Al Welch
Thanks for the response. I went in and tried several of the links again
under the best Civil War web sites and all I could get was "this page cannot
be displayed." Maybe it's my AOL. I haven't had too much trouble with any
others.

First I will apologize to those who receive multiple postings of this as I've
sent it to several maillists. I do hope, however, that you visit or have
visited the site and enjoy or have enjoyed that visit.
I invite you all to visit Bits
of Blue and Gray: An American Civil War Notebook
www.bitsofblueandgray.com
Some of you may have read my columns on another genealogy website and I hope
you'll continue to do so here. There will be the monthly feature column by
me or one of my friends. There are letters from my husband's ggrandfather
written home during the Civil War, poems, songs, interesting "receipts" of
the time and other misc. tidbits. The Roster for the 4th DE Regiment
Volunteers is also on the site.
I welcome stories, letters or anything else Civil War related from anyone for
consideration.
If you visit, please be sure to sign the guess book.
Thanks for listening,
Jayne
