>>Does anyone have any info on the Becrafts or any Maryland Becraft
families<<
Hi, List.
I'm trying to determine where to apply for a copy of the marriage license
for my gr-grandmother and her second husband (July 1925). They lived in DC,
so I checked both the Superior Court and the DC Archives and neither place
found a record.
The folks on the DC Listserv suggested I start checking in MD because there
was no waiting period. They said that couples often "eloped" to Elkton in
those days. Isn't this kind of far for people from DC? Would a couple from
the DC area be more likely to go somewhere closer in MD?
Any suggestions?

Cathy RABER,
I have some PALMER's buried in Sevensville, Kent Island, Queen Anne's
Co., MD, Cemetery who are closely or directly related to my IRELAND's
from the same area. I am also searching for any living members who might
be related to us IRELAND's ...for a.) my genealogical work and b.) for
our annual IRELAND Family reunion event. They are one bunch who has yet
escaped being ferreted out by me.
Cathy Raber,
I was wondering if you ran across any PALMER's from the Easter Shore of
Maryland from @1860-present?

Hi Faye, & everyone doing MD genealogy. I recently had a breakthrough, I
think, of my Palmer's of Baltimore, in 1850's.
To those of you that are familiar with the Baltimore area could someone
direct me to Walkers Switch, what part of Baltimore
is Walkers Switch? Anyone know if it still exists? I have never been to
the MD area, so I need some expertise out there, to perhaps go there this
July! Or in the years to come! Thanks so much, Cathy Raber, FL

Was your mother, aunt or grandmother a War Bride from England? I am
searching for the family of one Patricia DAVIES, born c1917-1922 in England.
Parents not known. She left England approximately 1947-1948 & is thought to
have settled in the USA. I have been unable to locate a record of her
marriage, so only have her maiden name. You can find further information at
http://community.webtv.net/youngdud/SEARCHINGFORWWllWAR
Hoping someone may be able to help.
Elaine Edney, Melbourne, Australia.
My three great grandmother was an Emily FLEMING who married Henry SHANK,
Sr who was born in Fayette Co., PA in 1807 to Jacob and Nancy Stauffer
Shank. Emily and Henry married in Fayette in 1928. From her marker (
on same one as Henry and his second wife Maria Coughenour) I have these
birth and death dates:that when she died on 18 Dec 1846, she was 36
years old. That weould have made her birth date sometime in 1810. I
would like to correspond with anyone researching the FLEMINGS in the
hopes that you will have her in your database someplace so I have a
starting point.
Need material on all Maryland Becrafts. Can you identify these?

Thgis book was mentioned in this group a week or so ago. Read the
description in Amazon and came to the conclusion that $50 would be well
spent, IF, my Hawkins line was well represented there. Otherwise, I'll
try to talk the local library into acquiring it.
Does anyone have access to the book and if so do the Hawkins show up?
Regards to all,

I gound the following reference a while back. I am just now trying to sort
and review some of the "raw data" I have collected.
I, Ellen Emmerich Mears, resident of Baltimore, Maryland; born May 3,1873;
married Adelbert Warren Mears of Virginia, February 22, 1893; hereby apply
for membership in The Society of the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims by
right of descent from Richard Wells, Sr., transported to Virginia in 1635,
born in England, died August, 1667, in Anne Arundel Co., Maryland. Service:
Member of General Assembly province of Maryland, October 20,1654, Provincial
Commissioner of Md., appointed August 8, 1654.
I was born in Bristol, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
1. I am the daughter of George W. Emmerich, born March 9, 1846, died August
29,1916, and his wife Mary Elizabeth Shepherd, born November 2, 1851, died

born October 18, 1819, died July 17, 1859, and his wife Priscilla , born
April 1, 1827, died February 25, 1912; married February 13, 1851.
3. The said Priscilla was the daughter of Henry Childs, born 1797, died
February 12, 1873, and his wife Mary Anne Owens, born 1802, died July 6,
1870; married 1823.
4. The said Henry Childs was the son of, born 1759, died 1843, and his wife
Ann Ijanes; married 1779.
5. The said Ann Ijanes was the daughter of Plummer Ijanes, died 1793, and
his wife Ruth Childs; married August 6, 1718.
6. The said Plummer Ijanes was the son of William Ijanes 1738, and his wife
Elizabeth Plummer, died 1762; married August 27, 1696.
7. The said Elizabeth Plummer was the daughter of Thomas Plummer, died 1728,
and his wife Elizabeth Yates.
8. The said Elizabeth Yates was the daughter of George Yates, died 1691, and
his wife Mary Wells, died 1699.
9. The said Mary Wells was the daughter of Richard Wells, Sr., died l667.
------------------------
Okay, starting from the last (earliest) ancestor she lists:
Richard Wells. I list his as possibly being married to a Frances White;
Mary Wells. I list her with 2 spouses: 1.) Thomas Stockett, married in
1645; 2.) Joseph George Yate, married in 1672. I list 5 children for Mary
and Thomas and none for Mary and Joseph. One of the children I list as an
Elizabeth Stockeet, born prior to her marriage to Yate.
Elizabeth STOCKETT. Married Thomas Plummer 1668. I list 5 children for
them - one is Elizabeth Plummer.
Elizabeth Plummer. Married William Ijams (II) 27 Aug. 1696. I list 9
children for them - one is Plummer Ijams.
Plummer Ijams. Married Ruth Childs 1738. I list them as having 5
children - one of them is Ann Ijams.
Ann Ijams. Married Samuel Drury, Sr. I list 10 children for them - one is
Henry Childs DRURY.
Henry Childs Drury. Mariied Mary Ann Owens 1823. They had 5 children - one
is Priscilla Drury.
Priscilla Drury. Married Joseph Shepherd 13 Feb 1851. I list 1 child, Mary
Elizabeth Shepherd and I list her spouse as George W. Emmerich.
What proof would Miss Mears have had to have submitted for this society.
Does anyone have additional info on children for Mary Wells and Joseph Yate?
